What if we removed Penetration...

But then actually balanced damage to tanking?

If tanking damage was the balancing factor, then squishies would have a nightmare. Sure they would deal significant damage to keep up with tank resistances since there is no pen, but then squishy targets would just die in 1 or 2 autos from any ADC or get 1 shot by any ability from any APC/Burst Mage. Assassins would be perma-banned. Pen gives options to build paths. The more pen, the less Crit and "zeal items". All mages would have to build defensive or movement speed boots. All mages would have the nearly same build path.item 3285 item 3089 item 3157 item 3165 item 3027 and boots since they would just go for what gave the most damage and saftey

Pen gives options to build paths.

Not really... because flat pen probably actually works better against squishies, and % pen is overloaded because they don't want the items to be useless against squishies.

Well you removed both flat and % so... that means these items would no longer exist item 3001 item 3147 item 3814 item 3136 item 3035 item 3151 item 3036 item 3033 item 3252 item 3134 item 3020 item 3071 item 3135 item 3142. Plus new masteries would need to be made. Champions with built in armor/magic pen would have to be given a courtesy buff somehow since a part of their kit was removed.

Buff their damage, or utility, mortal reminder could just be removed... We really need to lose grievous wounds anyways, and then balance healing too.... Without the enemy having grievous wounds healing is god op... grievous wounds its super weak... as far as sorc shoes make them boots of ap...

That would all be a part of rebalancing.

That to me just seems like way more work than what's needed.

Also, removing Grievous Wounds is not gonna happen anytime soon. There is way too much sustain / healing in the game for their not to be some form of heal reduction. Plus then summoner 14 would lose half of its effectiveness. Nami Soraka Sona Swain Vladimir Olaf DrMundo Fiddlesticks (to name a few) would either become so dominant since there is no way to reduce their healing, or become the lowest pick rate champions if healing was also rebalanced. It would be this way because good portion of their kits and champion concepts are somewhat based entirely off of having large healing boosts. Each one of them would likely need a massive rework in order to make them playable again.

What if we removed resistances

like

fucking maokai dude

then the game would get pretty boring for someone depending on who gets the more braindead role of the tanks verses the attackers

i prefer if they removed crit

AND THEN rebalance damage as a whole

Crit should just be an increase to every single auto attack... it would be more consistent and feel better for the attacker and defender... it would also feel less random, and be easier to balance.
