I gotta agree that Soraka's pretty annoying to lane against at times but that's a FAT nerf

Her self-heal no longer scales until level 9 basically, and her early W's heal was cut by a third

me @ riot: leave soraka alone, hasn't she gone through enough

Don't forget her increased damage in Q's center is gone, and her slow was cut to a flat 30%.

I would have been fine if they left her healing values alone... but raping Q and W at the same time is really bad.

Whatever I don't really enjoy playing that support much so hammer on riot.

instead they should just let her heals be counterd by grievous wounds

I play quite a bit with Soraka and I'm a little intrigued. As it stood, since everything sat on her W, there was little reason to level up her other skills. Some people picked her E to cut down on the cooldown (since it technically does the same damage as her Q but more reliably) while I usually prioritized her Q. Skill order won't be as much an issue with me as it would be for those that leveled E instead. Don't get me wrong. I understood why people preferred to level a skill that never went up in mana, increased in damage and significantly reduced in cooldown. But for some senseless reason I have always liked poking with Starcall and I'm only losing 5 more mana per rank.

Also the healing brought in by a Q is the same as consistently hitting two champions. They doubled her self heal while cutting her early game healing on allies. If we are looking at the numbers, it won't be until Soraka hits level 7 that she is healing the same as her former level 7. Early game trades won't be as much a lost cause.
