Lux support. a RANT

Wilbor··3 votes·3,473 views

To be honest. in my modest opinion, lux support is probably the most horrible, most toxic thing happened to bot lane. it has gotten to a point where when I see there's a lux support on my team I just dodge. and it happends once a day.

of all the mid lane apc from mid lane that are played are supports - lux is probably the worst. she has no real hard cc, no high poke early, extreme mana cost on her e, immobile, and squishy. not only that but a lux support WILL NEVER buy sightstone, will maybe MAYBE buy one pink to only make the adc happy. don't want to generalize but lux supports players are also tend to be very toxic.

Please, you want to play a troll pick support? if you have to. PLAY anything u want. just please not lux.

I have nightmares...

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with Lux supports; I have as well. But that doesn't make Lux, the champion, a bad support. Her long range double-snare is amazing utility. They also buffed the utility on her E, and it's excellent poke early, especially with thunderlord's.

She can help win a lane hard, and then carry the game. Lux+Ezreal/Cait/Jhin is infuriating to play against because of the constant harass and ability to chain ults and/or CC. There are definitely worse picks for the bot lane.

Lux has great zoning and is annoying AF to play against. She has a root and strong poke to compliment, this not buying a sightstone thing is probably due to the player/elo, however I've noticed that most ADC that complain about their sup lacking a SS are the ADC that never ward themselves and never buy that pink they expect from everyone else.

zoning? root? why pick lux when you have a zyra??

Ralanr3 votes

Because you like Lux or don't have Zyra?

Harry Dresden2 votes

Lux is way easier to play for new players.

Lux is way easier to play for new players.

This is another good point. Why do you think literally ALL female streamers main lux?

Harry Dresden2 votes

Woah dude, I wasn't going there. Way to get political. I was more thinking that my first main was Lux. And I was hot garbage with Zyra because I didn't get you could put seeds down while you abilities were moving.

I don't buy animal/plant champions.

Zyra's E roots for .25 seconds less than Lux's Q at rank 1. A .75 sec root vs a 2 sec root at rank one is a huge, huge difference.

Wilbor1 votes

are u implying now that u prefer lux support than zyra?

Vekkna2 votes

Not at all. I've logged about 700 Zyra games in the last year and a half, so I'm loyal to her.

But there's no denying that Lux's Q has a ton of synergy with Cait, Jhin, and Jinx. The Jhin/Lux double ult is a free kill with virtually no counterplay. The point is that she can be a very good support.

She's also super weak to all-ins by mobile adcs and engage tanks. The flipside of that is that her ult is spectacular at finishing off the Ez or Trist that always manages to escape death.

Basically, you can break Lux sup down into two categories based on matchup - Thunderlord's Lux and Windspeaker's Lux. It's like Sona; some lanes you win by poking hard and setting up kills, and some lanes you're a passive utility bot until you're out of lane.

Wrong. I've had great Lux supports. Toxic players are toxic, regardless of the character they play.

70% of the Vayne players I see feed and try to 1v2-or-more, but their stupidity does not make Vayne a terrible ADC.

lux support is kinda a mystery because those lux supports that i see are the most ignorant offmeta supp players in the game (i'm not sure why). meaning that there is a good chance they will play against you (stealing farm, flaming, ignoring you, not buying vision,...).

lux support is, to me, the definition of the "i'm going to play my mage bot, i don't give any fucks about anything else"-idiots that sometimes plague the botlane. on par with nidalee actually.

exactly

Support Main here... Lux is actually a strong pick when played right... Her snare, combined with a slow and decent shield can do wonders in bot.

And you really can't judge all Lux supports because of a few bad games.. That would be like me judging all Teemos, Yasuos, Ekkos, and Vaynes because of a few toxic players.. Its not right and unfair to the other players that play those champs.

MF support.....silvers/bronze players don't know how to play against it. Trust me...theirs always something out there that doubles the cancer you already have. Zac support, kennen support is my top 5 worst supports to go against, and most the time lane with.

Wilbor1 votes

I've seen it all. Lux support is cancer. I'll take anything but her

50555507_DEL1 votes

Lol their their...you willl one day reach true cancer...when you play against a kennen/zac/mf support ^_^

Im no grammar nazi but seeing "their their" triggered me XD

I'm triggered for you lol

I like Lux Support as my fallback if Morgana is banned. Mejais rush plus actually landing Qs = deleted.

Psst: Lux used to be a support when she first came out. Still is but people realized she was just as strong in the mid lane as bot lane when prioritizing AP items :P

She's meant to be a support (hence the roots and defensive abilities), and she's a very strong one not to mention. She has amazing roots, slows, and a shield that buffs with AP. Her poke is super strong and with the right ADC they can steamroll most botlane combos and carry.

What you're running into is toxic players honestly. Those happen regardless of who they play. It's unfortunate, but it does happen. But don't let that deter you from ever playing with a Lux support. I mean, I generally see Lee-sin players being extremely toxic whenever I play with them, but I don't like generalizing all Lee-sin players as toxic. Kinda rude aint it?

Lux is not a support. thats like saying that orianna is meant to be a support because of her utillity. lux is designed to combo and one shot the carries, like any other apc midlaner

Desolas Arterius2 votes

Lux is a support. She is a Mage/Support just like Sona is a Mage/Support. Orianna is also a Mage/Support since she can function as a support, but is predominately played mid.

Lux can combo and 1-shot just like Sona, and Morg can when they build full AP, but they can also be played as utility supports.

The point is, Lux was intended to be a support, but functions just as well in the mid because of her damage. Exactly the same as Morg who was intended to be a mid laner, but functions just as well as a support because of her utility. Same can be said about Brand, Vel'koz, and Annie, other AP mages that were played off-meta as supports that function well, but weren't intended to be supports.

I don't entirely see why you have an issue with Lux support in general. She's a great carry-style support that dishes out damage and provides tons of utility. What it seems you have a problem with is the players who play Lux, not Lux herself.

Wilbor1 votes

early game lux is total rubbish. her e lacks damage and she runs out of mana in no time. her abillities scaling and mana costs are intended for the mid lane.

and no, not every mid laner with utiliity spells are meant to be supports. sivir and ashe should be played as supports too cause they are utillity adcs? I have nothing against vel and annie brand etc played as supports. THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO BE SUPPORTS but they work. lux can't compete with them (in the bot lane).

All ranged support mains are pretty bad though, it doesn't matter which cancerous champion they play.
