Can we get a new champ that
Is simple Like 4 abilities and 1 passive that doesn't require a lot of mechanical skill and is still fun

It would be nice to get a champ that has less text than my college textbooks

hahaha. reading what jhin does is like reading a entire book on quantum physics.
Yes, I hope we can deliver on 1 (or even 2) champs with a reasonable skill floor in the next year. There is a great elegance to some champs where the mechanical skill requirement isn't crazy, but there are still lots of nuanced ways to make plays.
See: Singed, Blitzcrank, Morgana, Lux
All the more stabbin' for me
Any idea how many champs you are aiming for next year? 4 a year is just way too few.
We hope for 6-8, but quality comes before quantity. So far 4 this year and we have more coming.
And how many VGU's can we expect next year?
I think we're aiming for 4-5 but like everything, things could go faster or slower than our goals.
So, three of those spots are already taken by Warwick, Galio and Evelynn.
Makes me wonder what the other one or two VGU's might be^^
We may see WW before next year. Maybe
Let us get our hopes up, oh Malicious one. This will make Mordekaiser the first of the failed roster groups to get a full VGU to solve his underlying problems.
I'd say that another one would probably be Urgod (who was in a tie, in terms of factors, with Galio, before choosing Galio over him because the gargoyle was the less darker of the two, which I agree with), and hopefully Mordekaiser.
The Master of Death Metal has got so much potential, IMO. I could also see them going for Pantheon, Mundo or Nunu (if they decide not to work on him & Willump in the eventual Vanguards Roster Update) instead.

Well, one of them is going to be the next Ryze rework, so that leaves us with one unknown.
No. Other players call those champions "braindead" and complain whenever they get outplayed by more basic concepts. For more examples see:

Master Yi actually requires mechanical skill to play well though.

Sorry, but it's true.
Actual mechanically braindead champions are guys like Soraka or Janna.
Mechanically...
No...
His mechanics are Q E auto attack.
Mechanical skill would involve complex combo's which you have to land in order to play properly, such as
's newest rework. Master Yi requires good playmaking to be successful. You can't just charge in and 1v5, but not mechanical skill.
Mechanics is using the abilities in your kit well. Master Yi has a very high mechanical ceiling, but a very low mechanically floor. It's very easy to press R>Q>AA over and over and do okay. It's significantly more difficult to use him to his max potential, look at Cowsep.
Mechanics and play-making are two different things. Mechanically,
is far easier to play than
or
, as they both have skill-shots and he does not. However,
must know when to go in, and there is quite a bit of timing that goes into using your q properly, not to mention knowing when to W tank an enemy vs when to run, and when to activate your E. In this way,
requires more judgment than
, (Although arguably I would still say that
has to make more play-making decisions than
)
All that said, none of these champions are mechanically intensive. Mechanically intensive champions are champions like
,
,
,
,
,
,
, ETC. Who rely on quick button presses or micromanagement to achieve their goal.

No.
Also, pressing Q at the right time and W'ing at the right time require mechanical skill, and failure to react in time can easily result in death.
Sure, those champions are mechanically intensive. So is Yi. He's more mechanically intensive than Katarina, definitely. Katarina's difficulty comes mainly from knowing exactly when to go in. What you press once you're actually in isn't particularly hard. Q>E>W>R is not complex, nor is doing it again if you get resets.
Are you srsly claiming that Yi is harder to play than Janna and Soraka?
Tell the about the so called 'mechanical skill'involved with playing
.
Spam q to get stronger heals and harass.
Spam w
Use E when someone jumps on your adc.
Press R to save people.
needs to time his q to dodge cc that will get him killed or make him useless during a teamfight like
bind.
Timing meditate so he can live after massive burst like
ult.
Let's timing 2 skillshoots and R vs timing a point and click ability? You're right- Sarcasm
Her q is a really shitty skillshot to land since it has relatively short range and a slow projectile, you need to manage health and mana if you're going to be spamming w, which means you need yo be landing said skillshot. Also you need to be making choices about who to heal and when, as well as how much. Her E stun is really hard to land (I can never get it off unless someone is brain dead but I see some experienced sorakas do it semi regularly). Also, your R requires constant global awareness of your team, something that no other champion demands and most people don't have in gold or below.
While Master Yi has a higher skill ceiling than people give credit for, the same applies to Janna and Soraka. While it's easy to be useful on these 2 supports (just shield/heal), it's hard to actually play them perfectly during teamfights. With 4-5 active items, you have a lot of buttons that you need to be able to tap instantly when required, especially
kind of becomes a 2nd ulti.

On a side note, mechanical difficulty would be turret reset aggro, and "dodging" with his Q.
Speaking of which, his Q is bugged still.
Mechanical skill required to play Yi -Timing of Q -Timing of W in dives to avoid deaths (maybe twice every game)
Sorry Bro but lets be honest, you don't need high mechanical skills to play Yi, you can have 3 fingers on each hand and you still woudl be able to Play Yi on high level, is more knowledge and quick thinking skill more than reflexes and fast plays.
Mechanical skill required to play Yi -Timing of Q
Ever use alpha strike to avoid a Syndra Q>E and an Alistar headbutt? It's possible, and I've done it (though I'm not good enough to do it reliably).
-Timing of W in dives to avoid deaths (maybe twice every game)
You can also use it in duels to do things like blunt the burst of Zed's death mark while also resetting your auto attack timer. The healing portion of it is whatever.
- Right Clicking
Ever orb-walk with 2.5 attack speed?

You're right, you don't necessarily need high mechanical skill to play Yi. Because he has a low skill floor.
His mechanical skill cap on the other hand is pretty high. Not the highest, but much higher than most champions.
That he also requires game knowledge and quick-thinking (which goes hand in hand with mechanics, you need to be able to analyze a situation quickly and react accordingly, few champions require such quick action) more than proves he is a high skill cap champ.
But don't take my word for it. If you want a source who might be considered more credible the analyst of CLG agrees with me.

100% agree with you and Mr. Mandalcio. (It's good to see someone else using his analysis!) Those three things that RogueWill highlighted are hard, despite his casual mentioning of them. Master Yi gets blown up in teamfights extremely quickly, and he needs to be able to use his Alpha Strike at the correct time to dodge the most potent spells. Using Meditate is an even harder skill to use, because it's so versatile. Its most basic use is healing, but the fact that it's an auto-attack reset AND a potential damage shield makes it ridiculously hard to optimally use. One of the most satisfying things you can pull off as Master Yi is using a split-second Meditate to block an attack/spell and then getting off an instant counter auto-attack. That's really difficult to do, but it defines duels and it was accounted for in his power budget. He's a great example of a fun champion that's easy to learn, then keep learning for a long time. Master Yi's skillcap is not nearly as low as most people think.
?
Apart from his E, which his getting a simplification, all his abilites are super simple.
Passive gives you the starts, W makes the starts stronger, Q is a AOE ball stun like Anivia, E makes you fly to gank and R is a damage and knock-back spell. Pretty simple.
Plus his playstyle is just walking around.
?
Pretty simple without looking at numbers. Gameplay wise he's pretty simple though... and fun.
Not as simple as, say, warwick, nunu, trundle or singed
The mount/dismount is a pretty complex interaction
Warwick/Nunu might be a little too simple...
Wasn't Sol simple?
mhm. kind of tough to play though
His gameplay is hard, but his kit is simple.
Exactly the types of champions we need more of.
The reason why we get so few of these nowadays is probably because it's really hard to make a simple kit balanced and satisfied. The more complex a kit is, the more levers there are to pull when you want to balance. More complex kits often feel more satisfying for those who play the champion because they feel like there are more things they can do.
I would like a support that is designed to hunt and persecute assassins to extinction. also for kindred to be buffed in this direction also.
I want someone like
or
straightforward kits with room for outplays
?
How do you make a fun champ with simple abilities. Simple abilities are boring.
Nasus, Annie, Garen have simple abilities and are generally not boring.
Trust me, carve out a fun thematic niche and gameplay on a champion and people will play it, even if its simple.
Nasus is this guy who walks around top lane afk farming for 20 minutes then just smacks bitches with his pimp cane.
Garen is this beyblade of death who KSs the shit out of everyone with a giant sword from the sky (or plasma)
Annie is this cute, cuddly little girl prancing down lane and burning everything in her path and literally blowing people up with a giant teddy bear.
We need another orianna. Easy to pick up, is straight forward, but has a insane skill ceiling.
Azir
He's not easy to pick up, straightforward, and he's also weak as shit.
weak as shit? you mean gutted to hell...
where simple champions IMO i mean taliyah is the more complex of the three
lol
I'm pretty sure the paragraphs on each ability's description is enough to say that she is not simple
Also the base skill level for
is too high to count as simple champions. Simple champions are usually the ones associated with "no skill" such as
because no matter how terrible you are, it is hard to mess up.
