Can somebody test Death's Dance on Kai'Sa real quick?

Just played a game where a Kai'Sa was lifestealing a quarter of her health per Q. Something seemed totally off with that, and I was wondering if her Q is coded as an AOE ability or single target.

The wiki states that the ability is treated as "a unit-targeted ability and will trigger effects like Shock from Muramana item Muramana." and that's unclear.

Would test but don't own Kai'Sa so if somebody could go into practice mode and record some numbers, that would be fantastic.

It's single target.

But for Muramana, they specifically turned it off so it doesn't work that way.

Well that's scary, and also very odd, why?

Not gonna edit the wiki since I can't factcheck that.

They probably disabled it because of how ridiculous the damage was on it

Because it was busted, if you wanted I can go find the tweet that I think Jag posted about it.

It's not a special case. It's flagged as DoT.

I've been spamming Kai'sa and I go Ravenous Hunter + Death's Dance + Gunblade for the Q healing.

She still gets blown up when caught and the healing is reduced vs champs because the damage of each additional Q missile is reduced. This makes it impossible for Kai'sa to straight up tank through the DPS of bruisers and fighters so you pretty much have to kite properly and avoid as much damage as possible for the healing to even matter.

Ok more on topic. There are 3 ways an ability can be flagged regarding spell-hit effects.

Single Target Spell Hit - This means it is flagged as a spell hit, but not flagged as AoE or DoT. It will proc healing at full effect and it will proc muramana.

DoT Spell Hit - It will proc healing at full effect. It will not proc muramana.

AoE Spell Hit - It will proc healing at 1/3 effect. It will not proc muramana.

Kai'sa's Q is a DoT Spell Hit

Edit: Sorry, it was stated by her designer that the first missile is single target and the rest are DoT (IDK if he meant first missile per target or just the first missile period)

pretty sure its the first missile that hits each target, every other hit on those targets count as DoTs.

Depends on what she is hitting. If she Qs minions then she potentially gets more of the execute damage hits meaning it heals for way more. On champions the Q healing isn't nearly THAT big considering the damage reduction per bolt and champions have armor. It's still the best item on her, but it isn't completely bonkers.

I've never had less fun in this game then when kaisa finishes deaths dance and has an e girl support. To try and sell some cheap shit kaisa skin riot is willing to literally just ruin the balance of their game.

The way it works is the first hit on a target is considered a single-target effect on that target, whereas the ones afterward are considered damage-over-time effects (DOTs don't trigger Muramana).

Death's Dance's healing (and Gunblade's DOTs) are not reduced by DOTs. Her Q does reduce Arcane Comet's CD by 20% on the first hit (like with other single-targets), but additional hits on the same target only reduce cd by 5% (as with other damage-over-time effects), which helps point out that the first hit on one target is a Single-Target, while additional ones are DOTs.
