Does a support really need that high scaling?

Juggernaut628··2 votes·578 views

Why does Annie need 3 abilities that can stun to also come with 80%+ scaling? She isn't even played mid or top anymore so there's no reason she needs it. Literally everyone just goes full ap Annie support and fucks everyone. Even in LCS she is only played as a support. With her utility, why should she come with such high burst? What she is best at is stunning whole enemy team and she comes with an extra 2000 damage burst to that. Why does she need it if she is a support?

That is because Annie was originally a mid lane Mage. Let alone even played as a support, her only utility comes in the form of a stun.

Meanwhile, actual supports such as Braum, Leona, Thresh, come with a lot more utility and defensive capability.

Comparing a mid lane mage to true supports is ignorant.

And Janna was a jungler, but that didn't stop riot from nurfing her to shit.

And her high damage. Remember death is the ultimate CC (and she deals a lot of damage.)

Annie has high ratios because she is not a support she is mage

You should have lower ratios if your a Mage. You think if Akali had 100% ratios on her abilities she would be balanced? No! So why does Annie have them when she is meant to be squishy, but instead is unkillable.

she has no mobility at all while akali can dash into your face and eat it, not to mention that akali also has an on demand stealth zone. Please try again

Akali is a horrible comparison to Annie. Annie is a champion with no mobility whatsoever and the only 1 thing that stops people from killing her is her stun and burst potential. That is it. Even then, everyone on the enemy team knows when your stun is up, so as soon as you blow it you are very weak.

Annie actually had her scaling raised and her base damage nerfed so she would be a weaker support but a stronger mid laner. She doesn't deal the same damage as before until she has like 387 AP.

Perhaps that'd mean shit if Riot didn't make supports earn just as much if not more than solo laners.

Vladimir : U w0t m8? Ahri: U w0t m8? Veigar: U w0t m8?

One's a mageAnnie , one's an assassinAkali , with completely different playstyle

Ahri is an assassin and Vladimir is more of a bruiser. Veigar is apparently a very difficult champion to be successful with while Annie gets 3 on click abilities that chunk you. If you guys don't like my Akali ratio, then try Xerath. If each shot from his ult did 85% scaling plus a base of let's say 300, would that be fair? Woul his stun doing 80% and 200 base be fair? Would his Q with 80% scaling and even 100 base damage be fair? No! Don't tell me that Annie is nothing like Xerath because they are both mages that own stuns and AoE damage. And they have similar play styles of poking enemies from afar, Annie just does so better with less skill and more burst.

She has zero mobility skills in her kit and her stun is conditional...it's fine...

Also, look at Annie's total scalings vs. that of other mages. Her single skill scaling is high, but her total AP scaling is rather low, especially considering she only has 3 offensive abilities vs. 4 of most other mages like Velkoz Malzahar Brand

yeah, and those 3 have CC on their skills directly and MORE DAMAGE for their passives

Annie isn't made to be a support. Sure, she 'can' support, but that doesn't mean it is a good idea. It also doesn't mean she was created with the intention of being used as a support.

Juggernaut6281 votes

Ok so Annie who is played as a support who has 80%, 80%, and 85% scaling, two of which are AoE, is balanced to fight? Amazing how quickly people to to support Annie after raging about her for two months.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Why is Velkoz played as a support when he only has one cc, and two slows. Why is Brand played support when he only has one cc.

Because people love killing. Killing gets you further in the game. More damage, more kills, more wins.

Marthian1 votes

Well in brand's case, it's because he can proc spellthief's so darn easily (I really don't think Damage over Time effects should proc ST more than once.)

Marthian1 votes

I see her mid too. It isn't just support role. But yes, her base and ratios are absurdly high. Something's wrong when a burst mage can also be hard to kill

At least she has to jump in to the enemy team to stun them after 3 seconds and she can only E you through minions.

Blitzcrank is actually played as a tank and not a utility Mage so that's invalid.

A support doesn't need it. However, there is no reason not to keep it since it keeps certain champions viable in multiple roles. Even if the support role will never take advantage of the scaling, it would be stupid to lower the scaling so other roles are shut out from using that hero.

Apparently you've never seen an Annie support before because that's all they do. After possibly buying Frost Queen's Claim they go full ap. But thank you for complaining when you don't know what you're talking about.
