Why tanks are called tanks ?

Tanks in real life are heavy armored weapon vehicles and they cause alot of damage

Tanks in LoL are either heavy armored with low dmg or do good dmg but squishy ( in fact some tanks need high end full dmg build in order to do about 80% of the dammage that yasuo or orianna does with 3 items ) i am not talking about Darius and his juggernaut freinds

Because British didn't want germans to know about their new armored cannons on the wheels. So they tried to disguise it as water tanks.

Because this is a fantasy-themed MOBA-genre video game, and not a Real-World Theater of War.

Btw. in the real world, I also can't teleport to work, and "Flashing" means something completely different.

The original tanks in ww1 were heavily armored vut carried standard infantry weapons. They were designed to protect infantrymen behind them from machinegun and idf. As time went on and armor got better tanks started to carry increasingly heavy weapons to destroy othwr tanks. Video game tanks are similar though to the original tanks of ww1.

It's because of the concept of "tanking" in PVE games where someone makes themselves really hard to kill to survive a lot of damage from targets they are aggroing so their squishy teammates can safely deal damage.

Though in my experience from Warcraft, a tank can't last long without a healer, which always made me feel that my role is more about aggro juggling than surviving.

Trying to apply that same definition to PVP doesn't always work because people are smarter than AI (usually) and you can't really trick them to focus you. Rather you need to force them to notice you.

I'm probably explaining this poorly.
