Adding just 10 AP would create a set of 3 items aimed at supports that all share a core of 50 AP and 10% CDR, and would likely make the item more attractive despite the potential price increase.

But yeah, getting Censer before Zeke's can be better, depending on the team composition in question.

well Zeke's is just terrible right now, with how easy it is to get high amounts of crit the need for a Zeke's is really low while Censer's on the other hand who is going to use the AS buff + on-hit damage other than ADCs and auto-attack reliant champions? and even then it doesn't scale well at all
AhhShucks1 votesYou can usually get Zeke's while the ADC has only completed one item. Get the first sightstone and then get Zeke's before any other items it can be a pretty giant power swing at that point in the game. Even without the effect that stats are usually all ones you want early on in the game and with the effect the power of you and your ADC showing up to fight early goes up hugely.
RisenDarkKnight1 votesYeah but a lot of adcs are building infintiy edge into static + firecannon which means 30% of the crit will be wasted from zekes. Even if the adc goes essence reaver into ie into any 30% crit item that's still wasting 20% of the boost.
Sure it can give you a nice early power spike if you can afford it early (sometimes you need to invest in boots or upgrade your gp10 item first), but given how frequently adcs build more than 50% crit and how infrequently the bonus crit is up when you need it, ardent censor is just a more consistent item. The 20% ap boost is really minor most of the time and very few champions besides adcs can make good use of the crit.

Problem: The 30 ap damage on hit is weak, the attack speed bonus is weak, and the 40 ap is weak. Only thing this item offers of value is the huge movement boost.
On Soraka...it might be worth it because Soraka hardly does damage at all, so any contribution to damage from her is appreciated.
On Sona, steer clear. Get other things. Not worth it.

On Karma/Sona, it's powerful as a siege tool (the buff isn't all that great on just one person, bu tit's pretty strong when you're beating down a tower with your whole team and proc it on everyone)

You don't need it on Sona. Just get Lich + Banner of Command + FQC. FQC covers mana regen. Banner gives split pushing power and siege with Baron. Lich allows you to chunk towers by hitting a spell + her passive AA stacks with it and hits towers. Towers go down fast enough that Censor is a poor choice.
