@ADC Mains: How do play immobile marksman against dive champs?

So as title says, how do you protect yourself when you play an immobile marksman like Ashe or Varus? I am a support main and play ADC as a tertiary role and often times even when I position myself in the back of my frontline I still get dove by Vi, Rek'Sai, Akali, etc. What's the strategy you employ, or defensive items you build?

1: Ban Zed, Leblanc and Katarina -- unless the first player on your team is getting one of them.

2: Stay safe and farm safe for 35 minutes.

3: Kill everyone on the opponent team in 0.25 seconds while they're stunned / immobilized / airborne by your teammates

Well, you have the support or tank protect you from the divers. They CC the divers and you get to kill them while they are stunned.

Peel and kiting is necessary. Also, you can't afford to be too far away from your team, you need to be present a threat during fights and keep your damage up in hopes of killing the diver and winning the teamfight.

I think you just have to stay far back if you can, contribute where you can. Varus and Ashe have good long-range options for contributing to a fight even if they aren't quite in range to auto attack. You getting insta-killed is worse than you being able to contribute minimally to a fight (of course you want to try to contribute as much as you can; you are the team's damage source, after all; it's a delicate balance). Try to make sure your tanks/supports know to peel for you if appropriate (if you're very fed, you'll be doing the most damage, so the team should protect you; if you're very far behind it might be better for the team to focus down the enemy carries); dive comps are very effective at lower elos because ADCs don't position well but also because teammates often don't peel very well. Also, watch your flanks and practice kiting (furor boots help for the extra MS)
