When did Sivir become a thing?

I'm not complaining at all, just curious. I don't recall her getting any buffs, but right around the Shurima event she started becoming a really good pick. Just before that, NOBODY picked her. What happened?

a 60% decaying to 20% movement speed buff for 5 people is relativity viable and strong, she also has wave clear out the ass

"Just a Sivir comp" happened. Basically her ult is being seen more valuable for its team usage.

Often times this happens because other champs get buffs, nerfing the reigning picks.

In Siv's case, she's a strong counter for a lot of strong supports. He shield ignores:

Morgana's root Voli's flip Ashe's Ult

She also has strong range and good CS so she's a god counter to the Donger, and Cait. She's just got a skill set that happens to give her options. And she's a strong choice if you don't know who their bot lane will be.

There was a bug with the spellshields of Noc and Sivir that was blocking dmg... then she was the top adc, Riot fixed it, but people had already rediscovered that Sivir is not bad in a team with fighters + Heca was buffed (and later nerfed)

Before item 3725 happened, teams used to play this very heavy Death Ball style comps (Watch FNATIC in early spring split) and Sivir was great to combo with champions like Lissandra to lock down targets and instakill them. Liss was later nerfed and with the advent of Cinderhulk, the meta changed. However teams discovered Sivir was a very safe/efficient pick for almost any type of comp.

I don't think she's OP even, or that she needs nerfs. There's ways to play around her. She's a good champion.

I don't think she's op either, but I see her pretty darn often. I think if vayne got out of the picture we might see more of sivir.

She fits into lots of seige comps, which are fairly common. Plus they fixed Pizza Feet so people had better eye candy while playing.

Well Twitch got an amazing VU that got people playing him and realizing how strong his kit was, which resulted in his gutting.

So extra eye candy isn't always a good thing.

Because you can't ask for a better team fight engage Sivir item 3800 item 3069 Her spell shield also became insanely useful with the way the bot lane has been evolving over the season. Add her waveclear on top of that and you have a hugely versatile adc. Not to mention she's an insanely safe pick, really hard to catch out of position.

Also Sivir item 3713 is really fun to play on soloq, you can never really trust your jungler to be any good. Wind up with a shitty one and it's very useful to have that extra little dragon control.

Welp i meant it's good to have for smiting cannon minions in lane, doing a bit of counterjungling if you force the enemy out of lane, or taking the drag......but i actually had a sivir jungle on my team last night. She did a pretty good job, first blood on a level 3 gank xD although she fell off pretty hard after failing some ganks on their ahri.
