Hold up, spellshields don't work on Zenith Blade?

So poor communication led to my Ori being banned, and I pick Morgana thinking she'll be a good counter to the Leona/Ashe across the lane. But then I discover that Leona gets the in even when I shield the hook. What the hell? Research reveals this has been the way it works for YEARS. With most skills it's as if the spell never landed but apparently hook spells that move the caster still do so even though they "didn't land". This makes no sense. Spellshield should block ALL hooks, not just the ones that don't move the caster.

It prevents the root of Zenith Blade and the damage from it.

Spellshields block cc and magic damage. All you do is block those two things, she dashes to the target regardless if the damage applies or not. Thresh hook functions the same (aka he can recast it). All you have to do in that situation vs leo is just bind her as she's Eing in, shes always going to be on a linear trajectory.

Spellshields only block the behaviors of hooks that affect the shielded target. They do NOT prevent effects that the caster of the hook from using moving mechanics of their own.

If Blitz hooks a spellshield, the damage will come out of the shield, but the target won't be pulled. If Pyke hooks a spellshield, the damage will bypass the shield, and the target won't be pulled (AD damage) If Thresh hooks a spellshield, the damage will come out of the shield, the spell shielded target will not move, BUT Thresh will still be able to double tap Q to bring himself to the target. If Leona hooks a spellshield, the damage will come out of the shield, but the root will be negated, and Leona will move to the target.

You misconception is that you viewed hitting a spellshield as a "Miss." It's not a miss. It's a hit that prevents some damage, and prevents CC.

Spell shield also doesn't block Marks, which are not CC.

Morgana makes Leona unplayable. Black shield doesnt "block" Zenith Blade, but it absorbs the damage, the sunlight tag, the root, and it makes it so she cant stun you with her Q either. So while she does "get the in" as you say, she cant actually do anything with it, because she cant stun you, root you, or tag you with sunlight. Ultimately all that happens is she goes in, does nothing, and takes alot of damage in the process.

It is mandatory to ban Morgana if youre going to play Leona.

You don't get rooted from the E of leona. THAT's the CC part, THAT's what you dodge. Same with vi Ult, she still comes to you, you just don't get CCd. Thresh IIRC can still recast his Q on spellshielded target too. Black shield is CC immunity and magic damage shield, that's all. Why on earth did you think it cancels the enemy's movement spells? xD

You also want morg E to make enemy's movement spells disabled? that wouldn't be op at all. xD

Spellshield only prevents abilities from damaging/CCing you, it wont just delete the ability from existence.

For more: it negates the root, but not the subsequent headshot of Cait traps. It prevents Naut from pulling you but he will still move slightly toward you. It will block Thresh hook cc, but he can still pull to you. And it will not block Pyke ult, since it's an AD execute.

On a good note: it actually does make you immune to the pull that is Urgot's execute, since that's technically a cc. So...if he lands the R but doesn't pull in time, you can cockblock man-crabs.

Spell shields will prevent the CC but not the dash if the spell shielded target is the last champion hit by it.

Believe me us Leona players WISH that Black shield would prevent Zenith Blade from dashing. Because all it does is get us killed since our kit cant connect to black shield when its up and now we're balls deep with our whole kit on CD, and we cant do anything but sit in your root.
