The things i truly believe Riot should implement
I had some ideas for this, and while riot may or may not read this, if enough of the community agrees with me, or some of what I say, maybe this will be considered. I will list my suggestions, and then give an explanation. I have organized it so if you dont want to read the explanation, it is easy quickly just read the suggestions
TL:DR The bolded words at the top of each one are TL:DRs
Featured: Dynamic Queue I cant really summarize this one, I just have a list of possibilities All ranks --> If you have 3 people, it increases the average mmr queue by x amount (maybe 50 or smth), and each person after that further increases the mmr difference (ie 4 people 100 and 5 people 150, or 4 people 75 and 5 people 100. these are just figures, and maybe rito can make it variate between mmr ranges) ----- High elo (whatever riot wants, maybe like Diamond+) (when i say these ranks i think it would make more sense if it referred to the MMR, not the actual rank, unless rito wants to do it with the ranks) Ideas (one or two, not all of them, just suggestions) ----- Bring back the old solo queue system (same champ select as dynamic tho) where they dont have a role and they call ----- Only can pick fill, but then negotiate to switch. this forces them to play any role if they are unable to convince the other person to give their role, but I dont know how this would affect toxicity, it could go either way the way I see it (because nobody chooses so no toxic, or toxic because they are a very toxic player) As they said in the video, max queue of 3. This may be awkward because if multiple people do this then only one per team and each set of two trioqueues requires 4 solo queue players and this may increase queue times (not compared to now, compared to the other options). *If they do this I think they should make it so that trioqueues must cover all 5 roles. this makes it so that two people cannot guarantee their role. though the autofill system may address this * ----- Apply the latter to all ranks and make it so that if you have 3 people you must cover all 5 roles
1. Season 6: Surrender at 15 Some people may disagree, but hear me out. Season 6 has significantly picked up the pace of the game, and in a decent number (maybe 10%, which is fairly significant) of my games, they are decided by 13 or 14 minuites. You may say "games aren't over til it's over," but why do we surrender at all? in games that surrender at 20, the team has already decided to do so a decent amount of time beforehand. Furthermore, people that are getting crushed DON'T ENJOY IT. when they are so fed there is virtually no counterplay because it doesnt matter anymore, it is pretty salt inducing. Perhaps keep ranked surrenders at 20 minuites minimum. Dont deny it. If they goal of the season 6 updates were to shorten game times, which they have, I think this is not a far fetched suggestion.
2. In game Patch notifications: e.g. champion changes, item changes A strong element for a game is to appeal new content for as many of the actual players as possible. The reason for this suggestion is because not everybody reads the patch notes, or keeps up to date with the development of the game. Perhaps when someone picks a champion that has been recently patched, e.g. within the last patch, or last 3 patches, or havent played the champion since the patch, when selecting the champion there can be a pop-up similar to the ones that tell you about champion select, the boxes with a checkmark saying "do not show this again," and it can say something like "this champion has been recently changed" and there can be indicators for the scale of change that has been applied to the champion, perhaps a keyword before changed (like minor or major), or a color on a word or a colored keyword. I believe those boxes are called Newbie Help Tips at the moment, but I'm not sure. Perhaps when mousing over the champion in champ select and in the summoner profile, and on the abilities in game, in updated abilities, there can be more details on the change in the ability tooltips, that can be in a different color and crossed out. Maybe when showing this out of the game, there can be a button for "i acknowledge these changes". This can apply to items as well for changed stats or passives. Perhaps also add a exclamation mark at the corner for new or updated items in the item icon. Perhaps these can be turned on or off in the settings.
3. Adding an exclusive checklist to the item shop under show all items What i mean by this is that there is presently a checklist for item statistics to help you find an item (ap, ad, hp, armor), and maybe there can be another colomn of boxes next to the present checklist for exclusion. This means if you say select hp, and exclude ap, then items like rylai, liandry and RoA would not show up. If you select Attack damage, and exclude attack speed, then Blade of the ruined king and Guinsoo would not show up. Narrowing the search.
4. A Community vote for (champion) changes Now this sounds like breaking the line: "the community choosing how to change a champion?! whatt? Argument 1: that would break the game. Argument 2: It would take too much of Riot's resources to go through the community's suggestions" Okay no. I mean Riot could make like a section on the website where you can vote. There would be a page with all the champions, then you select the champion, the ability, and then nerf or buff. Then you can add a comment on why, and how. The abilities with a lot of votes on the same change (buff or nerf) can review some of the comments. Maybe leave out teemo. Rework submissions excluded (i believe this should be excluded due to the scale of a rework). This strategy would make it very easy for Riot to gather all the data in one place. Also, if it's an ability that they've already considered nerf/buffing and debated against it, they can leave it. If a champion has a lot of votes, spread out in the abilities, they can look further. This can also apply to items. They can also look through the comments for both the champion players as well as players against it, due to popular bias, e.g. Riven/Yasuo/Master Yi/Zed/Nasus. The players who complain dont say anything when those champions are shut down but their mouths run faster than their feet when they get to snowball. Therefore Riot can easily detect the popular Bias and outrule that as well. Also, similar to idea 2, for the people that don't put too much thought into things but want their opinion to be out there, there can be a button next to the champion for buff/nerf without specifics. Then the specific details such as which ability can be an option. To appeal to as much of the community as possible, which is the whole point of this system. ***on a side note, maybe items too, but i dont know. As i said they will simply be looking at the vote results WITH A LOT MORE THAN A GRAIN OF SALT, but it will be a great way for them to get the community's opinion.
5. Treating games with afks differently, especially in ranked I mean that the team with an afk should be reimbursed with some or all of their lp and the afk should be temporarily banned from ranked on top of the present penalty of low priority queue which they can play through in normals during their ranked ban. As for the reimbursement of lp, if they were behind by a lot before the individual(s) went afk, then they dont get reimbursed as much lp, because the chances were high that they would lose anyway. So losing more=less lp return. they could make a system where towers, gold difference, dragons, inhibitors, and kills were worth points, and the point difference could determine how much they were losing and the percentage of lp reimbursement that they ACTUALLY receive. I believe it should go up to 90% (or some other number riot chooses) lp return if there was an afk all game. I dont believe it should be 100 because they have a chance at winning, such as if they all win lane. I've had games where the team with 4 people stomped so hard that they were on nexus towers by the time the losing team could ff20. As for series and promos, I'll leave that to riot because theres no guarantee they will even read this post
6. NEW DYNAMIC QUEUE: no dodge without clicking the ban button and giving ban rights to first three players. And make it pop up during ban/pick Okay Riot, this is a cool new pick, but i have two things to say. I am cool with people dodging if they dont lock in or they dont choose a champion. And this is small, but they shouldnt have to press the ban button. if they run out of time during banning and ban someone they change their mind about later, it will not affect the game all that much. if they accidentally banned their own champion, they will make do or manually dodge. Secondly, I believe that the first three people should ban, because PICK ORDER NO LONGER DETERMINES YOUR POWER OVER THE ROLE YOU GET TO CHOOSE. This means that picking earlier only means your champion gets revealed earlier (and lets be real, before you say "but we can just switch, that is generally less common when the team works together like such, they can just agree on the bans anyway), allowing more unfavorable matchups a lot more frequently. And make it pop up when people ban or pick, because that is something a lot of people used back during old pick, blind and draft.
7. Custom urf matches. maybe a different name This may seem personal, but while I do like ultra rapid fire, i believe there is good reason to do this. First of all, it would serve as a pseudo sandbox mode for the people that are unhappy about it: it would allow them to practice wall hops, combos, flashes, etc. with much lower restrictions. However, as it is not truly a sandbox mode, I personally believe that it will have much lower time spent in this from people "sandboxing," which also means that their reason, "they dont want the sandbox grind to be a mandate" not really hold solid, as it isnt sandbox. Additionally, it would also help the people who truly enjoy urf, while also keeping them on the live servers because custom game modes lose a lot of play time. the time to find a game is much longer unless you have a lot of friends, which most people either dont have enough friends or they wont be online. Regardless of the circumstances, as an ultra rapid fire game mode, it will not actually not have that many people ditching live servers for it, and same with being a pseudo sandbox. Yet it can work for both groups. If they are restricted in the sense that they want to limit urf to april fools, perhaps they could give it a different name. Now this one, as much as I personally enjoy urf, I would say that 1,2,4, and 5 would be much more important to add, as it affects league of legends on a higher scale. On a side note, despite being a free game, maybe slightly monetize it and make it cost 200-500 rp. I think riot deserves more money for what they do, and it would also further limit the live server loss. Also they can play urf on live servers during april fools for free. I personally wouldnt mind paying, and were this not on a tiny thread, it might be contraversial. just a suggestion though.
TOXICITY
8. Flagging comments/punishment on how often you get muted Many people who should be reported do not get reported because people sometimes don't bother or forget. Maybe add a little icon next to any message whose content exceeds a certain number of words that would be censored if language filter (swear words). This button can be clicked in champ select or in game. When clicked a pop up will show up saying somethings like "flag for offensive/aggressive content?" and if enough people do so in champ select, someone can dodge and they will not experience a queue penalty, but regardless of who did the dodging the one who was flagged would experience a penalty (similarly to usual, with increasing duration). If someone gets flagged x amount of times over x games and or champion selects, they would get warnings, low priority queue, and bans based on that as well as the usual report system. If somebody is not flagged frequently, maybe now and then, they do not suffer a punishment. If someone is muted frequently, by an average of x number of people over x number of games, excluding people who mute an average of x players per game (so you dont get penaltied by people who auto mute), then they suffer consequences as well. Because people often deal with toxics with mute. I know I do.
8.5 rewarding people who do not get reported at all, or below a certain threshold I dont mean anybody who doesnt suffer consequences. so the non-salty people are rewarded, the mildly salty continue on, maybe with encouragement like "everybody has their bad days, but try to refrain from making others days worse" kinda like what they have now if you get reported, and the really salty people are penalized. NOTE THAT 8 AND 8.5 ARE SIMPLY ADDITIONS TO PRESENT REPORT/BAN SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT SOME NEW, GRAND IDEA, I JUST THINK THAT THIS WILL HELP THE PUNISHMENT SYSTEM.
**9. Make towers give shields during completely one sided games ** This will help the losing team not feed as hard, while at the same time their team not raging at them as hard. Meanwhile if they make a comeback, it won't be too hard because the previously winning team also has a shield to fall back on to bide time. I believe this will reduce the over salt in the game. It is similar to the former second tower shield: a tower that you could fall back on when you lost your own tower. This would bring it back Less toxic gameplay. make one sided games less salt inducing. But i mean that this would only apply in games that are one sided by a landslide. Such as 20 kills, 5k gold and 4 towers by 15 minuites. However this may be unnecessary if surrender @ 15 is implemented
BONUS: More cute things Poros are great. But they are alone! We should give them some friends! League has flashy, manly, difficulty, and sexy. But all that we have for cute things are poros! If it needs to be monetized, maybe more cute skins too! Teemo doesnt count doe. Maybe cute champions/skins that arent salty. C'mon riot we needs this.
I had other ideas, I'll edit them in after.
Treat the Poll as only referring to the first 3 because i added idea 4 after.
I would love to hear your ideas, perhaps edits, arguments, support, anything.
Personally i feel strongest about 2 and 4. Idea 1 is kind of something that came along with season 6, but 2 and for is a change that revolves around the entirety of the game, and will be something that will help the game appeal to the community whatever patch may come. Idea 1 and 5 are kinda general, without too many details, specifics, and more broad ideas that i believe others have considered. Idea 3 is just an idea I put out there. A small change, but I don't think it would be a bad one.
tee success in implementing them, it would be a
astrophe to let such brilliant thoughts go to waste; we must at least
. If
thing in particular doesn't seem like it would be effective, just
me and I will try to give an even further explanation of why it could work. There is no denying something needs to be done to re
