Nasus needs a buff. Seriously.

Okay a lot of you will disagree. we've all faced that giant dog walking to you while you are crawling at the speed of a snail, and he smashes you with that cane.

Nasus has never been a popular pick in ranked, especially in higher elo. He was never meta or popular. Maybe a few games here and there in normals, maybe one game from ZionSpartan. Even then he didn't inspire many people... even in season 4 when towers werent as tanky and the laser beams weren't around. Back when he could solo towers.

But over the course of the recent patches, time and time again he has been indirectly nerfed.

What am i talking about? This list is not in a specific order.

  1. Tower Solos With the laser beams implemented, and towers defenses moving towards health instead of armor, but keeping the armor without nearby minions, he can no longer face tank and beat the towers down.

  2. Juggernauts. With this patch, these champions saw a huge rise in popularity. their late game is more dominant, and both Garen and Darius counters Nasus.

Season 6

  1. Jax Jax has always been a champion that was there to pick, feared in many elos. Now, Jax faces a few buffs. The first of them is guinsoo, bringing it back in the meta, I believe Huni being the first to do it in competitive in s6. Not sure. The second, is the change to his dodge. Nasus used to win this lane matchup because his q could go right through counterstrike. No longer. Now When he counterstrikes Jax can just freely hit Nasus for 3 seconds with absolutely no counterplay because he is faster than Nasus. Perhaps its time to denerf the very old passive nerf for nasus to let him have some edge over Jax. With jax being brought back into the meta, making him counter Nasus does not help.

  2. Fiora Now her obnoxious q allows her to keep away from Nasus while dealing % hp true damage. her ult can do 40+%hp true damage.

  3. Vayne One of the few adcs that can kite him, rose in popularity

  4. Illaoi new champions are played and illaoi can beat nasus without too much difficulty. Against someone with no hard cc or mobility, illaoi's ultimate can be devastating

Lane Matchups: He now gets countered by so many more champions that are so much more meta/popular. These patches either buffed the meta champions, or made champions popular, and throughout this process he now gets countered by them, as an already unpopular champion.

He loses to trundle, renekton, gnar, darius, illaoi, riven, garen, trundle, mundo, jax. These are all champions that are tremendously more popular than him. Before he could beat a trundle, a jax, sometimes riven. but his counters are more popular and the ones he counters are no longer a counter. I think a buff is in order for the former underdog, now the underpowered dog

hes at just above 52% winrate with 6.5% play rate. he isnt doing amazing, but still pretty well at the moment. almost the same stats as garen.

funny that you mention jax. id actually consider nasus to be a counter to him. wither and just sitting in range of frozen heart hity jax pretty hard at any stage of the game.

nasus is usually my go to counter to on hit carries. (except yi).

I'm going to say this as someone who loves playing Nasus: No.

He's already quite strong, he's capable of playing around many of his counters when used correctly, and his mid-game is monstrous while his late-game is still strong.

I would hate to see him receive an unnecessary buff only to be nerfed elsewhere.

there are a lot of downvotes your arguments: he does damage, and hes tanky he can kills towers quickly he can farm his q

that is irrelevant

my argument: he gets countered by meta laners he needs minions to kill towers

your arguments arent even the same as mine

why do you think my list included champions? because im not talking about Nasus. Im talking about Nasus in relevance to the present meta

Nasus actually has a very high win rate against Illaoi (probably because he can sustain and farm her tentacles). He also is sitting right at 50% against Darius, and a little over 50% against Gnar, Jax, and Fiora.

A lot of the matchups you said that he is countered in is wrong. Darius I can understand, but you can still beat a darius as Nasus just by playing it safe with his abilities or at least not feed.

Garen is a counter to Nasus? What? Illaoi is a easy lane as Nasus, just farm the tentacles and dodge her stuff. Jax is still favored for Nasus, just got to be more careful. Nasus vs Fiora is still Nasus favored, although next patch might change that. He might lose to trundle 1v1 if he doesn't watch the ult, but he shouldn't ever lose lane to him. You also said trundle twice. The Riven vs Nasus matchup is highly exaggerated. Although thunderlords made it a little harder, it's actually pretty Nasus favored. Gnar vs Nasus, Gnar has to be REALLY good to be able to stop Nasus. Nasus vs Mundo, he shouldn't be able to lose lane here, but he most likely won't stop mundo scaling unless Mundo is bad. Nasus vs Vayne, yeah Nasus usually shouldn't do well here unless his jungler camps. In which case it's most likely a dead Vayne.

Honestly, Nasus is very strong mid game if he gets to it, then falls off somewhat late game. He isn't a competitive pick for about a year now, but he isn't THAT bad. He just isn't strong. If you asked me, leave his early game as is, nerf his mid game somewhat, buff his late game a little bit.

By the way, this is coming from a Nasus main. I've experienced these matchups plenty of times, just learn to play them.

i've said this many times and i'll say it again, nasus may be really strong low/mid elo champion, and he becomes weaker and weaker as he climbs up, being a trash tier pick in master tier +. it will be hard to balance him in the way he could be viable in any elo, without a partial/full rework

He is ok, needs rework - toxic gameplay with afk farm, splitpushing, 1shotting people. Also takes no skill to play aside from surviving the laning.

Nasus has no counters. When there's an enemy Nasus, you're in a race to destroy the Nexus before he finishes farming.

Except when Nasus is good, he creates such a powerful presence with just the threat of him farming his Q.

People don't talk about him a lot, but he's pretty feast and famine too, and even with the THREAT of farming his Q and you having little to do except hope your other lanes are alright while you camp the shit out of Nasus (god forbid they have a hypercarry mid or bot) does not make for fun gameplay.

However, when Nasus doesn't farm his Q, he brings so little to the table that makes him a liability to his team.

Regardless, he's in a decent spot now and prefer him to be a niche pick over a competitive one.

He can't tank the inhib turrets anymore no matter how stacked he is. I Q'd an inhib turret with 700 stacks loaded on my q and it did 100 dmg...

So either rito is just fu cking with me, or nas can no longer tank and take inhib turrets meaning his big scary thing that people complained about is gone making him under powered.

so, what I'm getting out of this is

  1. a lategame champion isn't winning lane for free
  2. he can't facetank towers

and these are supposed to be problems? do you live in the negaverse?

No thanks. Maybe your just bad at q farming. My freind 2 shot a tower yesterday. Literally 2 shot.

So yea you can still face tank towers.

Not to mention the fact he can 1 shot most squishy while being insanely tanky.
