That is the surest way to be sure they don't waste any ults or spells to save you.

In general, don't tell me how I should be supporting or what I should build or what I should be doing in lane.

And it pisses me off to no end when I'm playing Nami and my adc starts harassing me saying I'm missing bubbles. Do you know how hard they are to land? It is a delayed spell that many adc's have the mobility to dodge. It takes a lot of predicting to land. I'm not like you where I get to point and click auto and do most of my damage so back off. I have bad days sometimes.

I've seen more support harassment lately and it ticks me off.

There's a difference between flaming and criticism.

What you're saying is criticism is flaming, its not. Odds are you aren't playing perfect.

Stop acting like a mid laner.

Criticism I'm fine with, I'm not fine with it when you act like an asshole.

Asking "Hey Nami, would you be able to build Sightstone next?" is much better than "Oh my god Nami just fucking build Sightstone already"

And there really isn't a need to be an asshole about it either.

Also did you miss the word "harassing"?

Harassing isn't criticism, harassing is being a toxic jerk and bullying teammates. I never said I play perfect, but to expect me to land everything like a God is unrealistic and I have adc's who think that me not landing every single bubble = me sucking and that isn't true.

QjTHqo3RTq3 votes

I saw the word harassing, ok, but you know what I saw too?

{quoted}

In general, don't tell me how I should be supporting or what I should build or what I should be doing in lane

Now correct me if I'm wrong, criticism falls into that quite snugly into what you're saying to not do. And you can say harassing all you want, I'm thinking youre just being toxic about someone mentioning your bubble hit ratio. If they're an immobile adc, they're going to care A LOT about you use your only non ultimate cc. If youre using it aggro and missing, that means the enemy can engage on that, and odds are that immobile adc might have to blow summoners.

The rest of your post is fine, but I read it all with that line that came straight of a Fan Fiction Author, with a statement amounting to "Don't tell me how I can improve because there's nothing you can to say me that will do that and I'm at the peak of what I do"

But yes, I read the word "harassment" it helped your argument immensely

So me saying don't tell me how I should be doing my job is toxic now? Alrighty. Never been toxic in game before but hey I guess I am now.

I never take it upon myself to tell others how to play their roles. I'm not gonna tell people what they should be building, not gonna tell them what they should be doing, or how they should play.

I land most of my bubbles. Do I land every one? No, nobody does, nobody lands every skillshot they use. Have I had people flame me over missing some? Yes. I have. Any support will tell you that they've had an adc start yelling at them for missing stuff. Is that right? No, it isn't, there is no reason that you should be an asshole to someone else because they are missing a few skillshots. That isn't even the point of this, I just included it as an example.

The point is, you shouldn't be telling others how they should be playing. Everyone plays differently. Some people are more passive, others are aggressive. Ordering people to play differently or build this or do that is not right. Helpful tips are always ok, or suggestions, but going "Nami oh my God just build this" is not needed.

I'm talking more about the people who will try to order you to do things and tell you what to do. I'm open for suggestions and if a team member asks me if I could do something, nicely, I'll do it. I'm talking more about the people who thing I'm there to cater to them and do what they tell me to do, which is more adc's than you think.

Correct, glad we agree on that

I understand how someone telling that you arent performing your greatest is annoying and blah blah its just them complaining, theyre doing it for a reason, and as long it's honest, it should be taken to heart.

Understand I main support too, I understand what youre talking about sometimes, but youve taken your approach too far and youre just making your and others experience worse by doing that

I still fail to see how this is toxic.

I've had people harass me and bully me in game, usually adc's, because they want me to play a certain way or build a certain way. I could just be keeping them healed and giving them buffs and trying to land the occasional bubble. How would me saying "Don't tell me what I should be doing" in response to their comments be as toxic.

I feel like you guys think I'm some toxic feeder or something who neglects to do my job, and I'm not. I started this game with a team of 5 who taught me how to play, I've mained support for over a year, and I try to do the best job I can every game. I'm not some toxic ass who will start fights and make comments, I'm usually quiet and I just try to do my best to help my adc. I'm not the one that picks fights.

I've had adc's act as toxic as they can be, picking on me and bullying me for anything they can find. Other team members have stood up for me before, but I experience more adc's trying to dictate what I do in lane.

Like I said, I'd be happy to assist in any way I can if someone asks nicely but if I have someone yelling at me ordering me to do something I'm not gonna be as eager to do it for them. In rankeds I'll make an exception because I want to win more and it is more important so I shrug it off, but in normals if I have someone acting like a jerk to me trying to order me around I'm not gonna be as eager.

Your comprehension sucks. He poorly worded a point earlier making it look like he refused to take any advice and since then has clarified that this wasn't what he meant - he clearly said that he will take suggestions, just not orders.

You need to pay attention to new information that enters discussions. Why you're acting as if he's a rager that goes off whenever his team says anything to him when he's clarified that that's not the case is beyond me.

Dude no, you don't get to tell your support how to do their job, period. If you think a support should play a certain way then you can go play support. But at no point are you allowed to tell someone else how to play. You can ask them to do something. "Nami can you ward that bush please? I'll ward this one." Or "Nami can you go all in with me?" I do it all the time when I play ADC and you'd be surprised how willing my supports are to work with me when I ask them nicely and help them ward. You can suggest things, you can ask things, but in the end it's their character, and they are allowed to play how they want.

But aside from that if I can't land every skill shot then I have no right to complain about my support not landing every skill shot. Everyone makes mistakes and harassing someone over theirs is just going to make it worse. Don't harass your support, or your mid laner, or your jungler, or anyone for missing things.

This is exactly what I was trying to say and everyone is taking it as me being a toxic jerk who doesn't want any sort of feedback.

There's a difference between ordering me around and acting like I'm your servant and asking politely 'hey can you do this/build this?'

I'm all for feedback. What I am talking about here is people who are like "build this" or "do this". I never take it upon myself to TELL someone what they have to do. I always ask, and I do it politely, or I suggest something. I am not playing the role, everyone plays differently so if someone doesn't want to do something I'm not going to tell them they have to, but I'll ask or suggest it.

I'd be happy to do something for someone if they ask me to, but I've had adc's who think they are the boss in lane try to order me around and tell me what I have to do.

Basically, suggesting things and just being polite when asking someone to do something is fine, but telling someone what they have to do or what they have to build is not fine.

That's why you harass with w and e save the bubble for when you get a slow off or if they engage onto someone. Throwing out the bubble randomly is like Malzahar trying to farm with only auto attacks

I don't throw them out randomly, I use them to try and help my adc get some damage off on them, to stop the jg from coming in, or to help the jg/adc engage. I do harass with w and e.

Same for me when playing Morgana and teammate bitches at me for missing my Q. Like... I obviously saw I missed wtf does pointing it out do? Only makes me think about it more and generally play worse and miss more Qs during the game. That's why I never make fun of teammates for missing skill shots because I know how easy it is to do.

Exactly. With practice you get better, but it is still unrealistic to expect someone to land every single one. Like I do my best and generally I'm good about landing my stuff but I still have bad games.

by saying "in general, dont tell me what to build" you're implying that no support should be told how to build, ever. "in general" literally implying that. if you were just talking about yourself, then fine you were letting off some steam. but if we're talking about supports in general, ive seen inefficient, greedier, non-sensical builds come out of supports more than any other role. this includes, ludens/AP in general on braum, being inefficient. deathcap, especially not on brand or zyra, is quite greedy. not buying a sightstone, before 15 minutes, is nonsensical

by closing yourself off to criticism you will not learn or get better and you will be stuck taking the 50/50 of winning or losing every game when you could be honest with yourself and criticise your gameplay and determine where you can improve. you wont get very far shutting everyone down because of your inflated e-peen

Yes, you shouldn't be telling someone how they HAVE to build. Please go read the rest of my comments, I already clafirifed this.

I said I am open to suggestions and advice. What I am not open to is people TELLING me what I HAVE to do or HAVE to build. There is a difference between someone suggesting or asking about something nicely and someone trying to order me to do something

For example, this is something I have no problem with

"Hey Nami, would you be able to get SS on next back?" or "Hey Sona once you get your ult can we engage?"

Like that's fine, I'm cool with that. My job is to help you out and if you would like me to do something and ask me I'll do it for you.

This is what I'm talking about that I don't like

"Nami oh my god just buy sighstone already" or "Sona my fucking god just engage already do something"

There's a difference between asking your support if they can do something for you and trying to order your support around and make demands of them. I clarified this earlier. You joined a bit late.

If you want to win and you have a teammate nagging then muting is a must. In the end it helps you and them since you can now focus on winning the game rather than strangling them with your words.

You do realize it's not just the Supports job to ward and many supports go with something else to give more security for the lane...wether it's more tankiness, more AP for heals, cdr to do more snares.....

Besides....Warding is a TEAM effort...Yes most Supports get sightstone but they focus more on other stats...not "oh i need to buy this because if not then my adc that goes out of position and doesn't ward may get attacked".

It used to be much easier, when Green Wards were easier to obtain, but now with much less options for laners, a trinket and a pink, Supports have to pick up some more slack. I'm not saying only supports should be warding, it's just frustrating whenever I don't see one with a Sightstone at 20-25 minutes, where one pick made by the enemy team carries MASSIVE risks for your team, like losing big objectives like Baron if it was your Jungler who died, losing teamfights since your ADC got caught, etc. Sightstone is pretty bad stat wise, but the amount of utility it brings to the table is massive.

I'd say over all in general dont harass anyone on your team. It doesn't make their game play better, it doesn't make them land skills shots better, doesn't make them ward more etc etc. **Harassing them only makes them preform worse then they previously were. ** Sometimes I think people dont understand harassing them makes them do worse. Just dont do it, try to find a more friendly way to tell someone what they could do to help themselves (Ex: "Hey have you tried this item over this item? It might help you a bit more over {X Champion}" or "Hey we should probably get some more dragons. It helps us out more then they use to, and gives us more gold to catch up hopefully.")

Macanimus1 votes

The worst is when ADC mains ask why a support didn't block a skillshot that the adc could have easily dodged. In my case I don't really care if an adc rages at me for missing hooks or cc because it happens but when they rage over something that couldn't be avoided really irritates me.

Mig891 votes

This drives me nuts. Im a support main and ive had multiple adc's try to tell me its my fault they got hit with a skill shot. if dark binding is coming at us they better be able to dodge as much as me unles theyre low health and im almost full. Im not getting poked down from being a meat shield while the adc just ignores it and continues farming. I played with a jhin yesterday who would not counter the enemy at all. It was jhin and leona(me) vs ashe and blitz. I told him to engage ashe hard if i got pulled and when i got pulled he just ran away every time as i walked away with ashes health 1/3 of the way down on my own.

Swiftstrike41 votes

Support is my secondary role, but I often don't place it often in DQ because I get it too often when I select it as my secondary. I practice support in normals and play it in ranked probably 1/4 games.

I will say though, as soon as my ADC begins to insult me I just leave the lane. I don't need to help someone who is being mean or rude to person whose entire role is largely dedicated to helping them. Everyone has bad games and sometimes I support really really bad ADCs. But if they are bad and not rude I usually put in a lot of effort trying to keep them alive.

Supports are under appreciated, especially in low Elo. Aside from the jungler, I think it is the role that gets the most heat. I do try to adapt my style of play as a support to the play of the ADC. If it is apparent that the ADC is average or a novice, I play less aggressive. If my ADC is out for blood but not very good I usually back him/her up to a point, but I am not dying for them to make a stupid engage. It only takes one hyper-aggressive, poor engage for me to play more passively.

I play aggressive if the ADC appears competent. A lot of new ADCs do not understand that getting to level 2 before the opponent is probably one of the most important parts to the first few minutes of the game in the bottom lane.
