League is so bananas right now, and here's why

Its because of the new role selector, unpopularity of the support role and smurfs. This is all explained in a Phylol video. Basically, the new role selector and autofill makes high-elo queue times extremely long, and players often get in an unfamiliar role after a 30+ minute queue. So now high-elo players are making a lot more smurfs and making all games below diamond 1 be all about what team has a better master or challenger smurf. That is making the normal players irritated and the smurfs will get bored after some time. This issue might ultimately lead to a lot of players just quiting league. A proper fix to this issue would be to bring back the old champion select to diamond 1+ so it will greatly shorten higher elo queue times. Then it will be much less smurfs and league would be more enjoyable for everyone. Please upvote so it catches a red's eye.

Riot has been specifically working to decrease high-elo queue times. Recent changes have attempted to make support more popular (as a support main who queues support/top, I've noticed that about one in five games I actually get my secondary position now, and I stopped queueing fill because I kept getting Jungle instead of Support). There will probably be more QOL improvements for the support role to make it so that players feel better playing it.

In a recent Ask Riot, they mentioned that they're working on ways to address the smurf problem (which they do agree is a problem.)

Just letting you know that Riot has stated that they're aware of these problems, and is working to address them in the new system. I don't think bringing back the old queue system for high elo will be a good solution. I am confident that, given Riot's recent attempts to make things better, they will find a way to solve all of these problems.
