Context for Anivia Nerfs Riot?

11/8 PBE Update

Anivia's ult is not supposed to do tons of damage. It's for the slow and chill effect (which no longer exists now). No one is going to sit in her ult, even for 1.5 sec and especially since many champs have mobility. The ult is just a big unneeded warning sign now.

Which means she must now hit the slowest moving skillshot in the game and most elongated trades she will only get one E off.

Also there is no specified time frame to hit her E. All it says is "recently damaged by full R or Q stun".

Iirc people were complaining how unfair it was for anivia to just tick her no CD ult and then 100-0 somebody with E.

This is mainly an E nerf than an ulti nerf, the ulti itself is buffed but because E is built around chill that got nerfed instead. The wall cooldown was also lowered to make trapping people for 1.5sec much easier and more consistent.

So basically anivia is easier to play but its not a 100-0 just by 1 ult tick.

Landing Q isn't that difficult.. not saying missing is hard, but the moment she lands it and E's you already forced someone's health potion.

She cannot 100-0 someone with E. Both Q hits and then E can but only if she is fed. Like the case is with most mages.

Because Q is so slow moving, it is unreliable in lane unless someone is right in your face or they are already slowed by the ultimate. So that means you have to be wait to be engaged upon or blow two abilities to hit E once.

Yeah, it's true. You can't really 100-0 someone with E. LOL. I don't know who started that shit, but it's sad knowing that it got this far.

On the other hand, Anivia is NOT supposed to 100-0 anybody. She's not Annie or Lux. Her kill pressure in lane is low, but she doesn't need to kill people in lane to win the game.

Claiming she is not supposed to 100-0 anybody is weird, considering that her e ratio got never buffed, but instead, nerved the last patch by 5 (10) flad dmg per level. ( What I say here is, that she was always bursting dmg out like this)

I know because I play and follow her changes( the few changes she had until season 6 happened) and I have been bursting adc down for 6 seasons straight. The general lol community probably never noticed that, because her player ratio was always realy low.

Even after froggen showed her off at LCS her playerbase went down as quick as it went up at that time.

The only reason her e got a "buff" in all this time was the indrocuction of thunderlords. An ability everyone is able to use and increased their dmg likewise.

And as a mage with 2 burst dmg spells and one dot one i can't see how anyone could think that she was only supposed to utilize lane pressure and siege.

Just recently players started to complain and riot is giving in for no good reason.

After the e nerv her winratio got to a healthy 51.7 % with a popularity of 2,5%.(A lot of dedicated anivia players with good winratios because they play her a lot) Now they go for an even greater change and I already know that I am not going to stay at my elo in case they will truly go with those changes, because I won't stop playing my main no matter what, but with those changes loosing a lane(especialy against anything with mobility) just got a lot more likely.

Stay strong Anivia .We can do this.

Never said that she couldn't burst ADC at all. But you have to admit that if this is what you want to do, there are far better champs than her. Being bursty is not her primary strength and was never supposed to be.

So, and this is a real question, is a nerf on one of her secondary strengths really that impact-full? My first impression is that she can still do her thing, but I may be wrong.

Her e-r/ r-e kombo is her most basic ability kombo. It is the only save method she has to trade with most enemy champions. ( High mobility/ranged ones)

Do not consider it her secondary strength. The ultdamage is just not reliable enough to work with it properly. You may get an ult that is dealing more dmg than usual off, but your e still was necessary to make the tradeoff impactful and in your favor.

Since they lowered the q dmg, and with the unreliability this skill has ( So many rivens/adc flashing my q. If they do that, I most likely die in this fight) anivia is bound to loose more trades by default.

Everyone who played anivia knows how her fighting pre level 6 midlane is. It is realy hard to do anything during this time that has any meaning( using you q always is a risk with a possible gank around) . Now her post level 6 gameplay is going to look similiar. Anivia already was more reacting to enemy actions than anything.

with this change she has to play even more passive, as trades are not going to be in her favor.

And her utility in lane pressure... most champs can clear waves faster with less mana. I do not know any main anivia that played her for that reason. Siege and defending got nerved with and prior to the mage update.

To put this into perspective: Think of lux e dealing only full dmg if it stayed for its whole duration(which is now 1,5 seconds). Dont give her any compensation for this. Half her e dmg if used imediatly. Make it not scale over time or anything.

It is not a good example, but the only thing I could come up with so quickly.
