Can we get a confirmation button if someone bans a champ a teammate has declared?

P0IS0N IVY··82 votes·2,810 views

Please?

Edit: Guys, this suggestion is for the people who don't pay attention during champed select. No one wants an accidental ban on your main due to lack of communication and attention in a ranked game.

This does not stop you from banning someone else's intent pick that you don't like (as opposed to communicating it in the team chat). The only difference is that everyone knows now that you did it on purpose.

but then i can't "accidentally" ban yasuo....

And then the Yasuo main bans my pick-intent in return. Every. Single. Time.

Why wouldn't they? You just banned their pick of intent

Only Play Darius7 votes

There's a permanent Yasuo circlejerk on these boards. In their eyes anything is justified if it's done to a Yasuo player.

falldown0103 votes

thats why you fake pre pick something you dont want to play so they ban, jokes on them though because you want that champ to get banned (,

WinTheWarOnPants2 votes

Lux "superior tactics"

falldown0101 votes

then you proceed to pick lux, and spam your laugh in the fontain easy game xD

Nameless Voice1 votes

Because they were last pick and should realise that they were unlikely to get him anyway.

rtbf761092711 votes

The team player thing to do would get an earlier pick to trade for him

The irrational levels of yasuo hate thing to do is say stuff like this, to somehow justify how you can ban your teammates yasuo but they shouldnt ban your champ in retaliation

everything is allowed against noobchamp players

Just show an "intent pick" that you want banned and pick something else when its your turn. Easy. :P

I mean, if you wanna ban someone's main in ranked to decrease your chances of winning, go for it.

But I don't think it's a good idea.

nice table1 votes

id rather not have a person in my team that likes to flip a coin on whether they lose the game for you or win it. if people played shit consistently instead of playing retarded champs and coin flipping every game we would get over the whole "i have to coin flip so i can carry before my team coin flips and feeds".

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

i'll take my chances. Yasuo players are like a combo of the worst parts of Riven players andLeeSin. they are cocky and toxic like Riven , but unskilled and crazy undependable like LeeSin player. this is very general, but this has been my experience. their champ is broken so they think can get away with anything, and when they don't they blame their team. unless you make a comp around baby sitting them so that their BS kit will do all the work for them, then you have a much better chance. I however, don't wanna play around some random d-bags ego and would rather put my effort in supporting my WHOLE team and work together to win.

There is. Its called the "lock in" button

BasedNerd16 votes

Don't be a dick, you know what he meant. A pop up saying "Are you sure you want to ban this champ? A teammate has pre-picked them!" is what he's referring to. Wouldn't be a bad idea, either. I've seen enough people go full tilt after someone bans their main, even though they're first pick and probably would have had free reign to choose that champ. People seem to not even check the pre-picks or w/e you call them

P0IS0N IVY3 votes

Pretty much what I meant. Sometimes ppl don't notice because they have a habit of banning the same champ all the time. You can't stop someone from troll banning, but at least you can stop those who don't mean to.

Only Play Darius1 votes

Ban at the last second and you dodge because that notification popped before you could lock in. I think a better solution is a red ! symbol in the corner of champions portraits that have been pre-picked by your team.

Elikain3 votes

What's preventing someone from banning a champion you intent pick, if they were already going to ban them? A confirmation button isn't a stop button and with all do respect, people have the right to ban intent picks.

That last guy isn't going to get Yasuo no matter how bad he wants him if the first guy isn't going to pick him for a swap. So you ban him and prevent the enemy team from getting him. I'd rather get flack from my teammate for this then let a pick i don't want the enemy to get because i was a true comrade and am now fucked for the entire game i have to play.

I honestly let people play what they want but there are some champions i don't want to see being played by enemies. If you're nowhere near getting that pick and it's a FOTM pick, the risk is just too high our team will have to play against it.

P0IS0N IVY5 votes

The confirmation is for people who aren't paying attention. If you're getting raged at for not being clear why you banned someone's pick, then that's your lack of communication.

Elikain2 votes

And even if they aren't paying attention, last second bans requiring you to confirm the choice (because you are attempting to ban an intent picked champion from your team) would cause a dodge and a penalty for that person.

Banning a champion and not confirming the choice is definitely not a punishable offense for queue dodging and losing LP. Furthermore, i think i explained why i ban what i ban (when i have to ban an intent picked champion). I explain it always, and I still get flack from my team and i don't really care. I know what i did wasn't a trolling attempt.

My teammates don't really make arrangements between themselves because they intent picked and tuned out until it was their turn. If you cannot pay attention for 3 minutes and communicate with people in the champ select to make sure you get what you've chosen, imagine how much i should care about banning your pick if i don't want the enemy team to get it first.

P0IS0N IVY2 votes

Freeze the timer for 5 seconds while someone is confirming. Easy fix.

No one said it was a punishable offense. The counterarguments you're making are things that are already happen. How does this suggestion make things worse?

Elikain3 votes

First and foremost, because freezing the timer for 5 seconds (if all of the bans are maximally late) extends the ban phase for 30 extra seconds. To what end exactly?

{quoted}

The confirmation is for people who aren't paying attention.

Why do we need a feature that helps people who don't pay attention during champion select that lasts 3 minutes? Three minutes isn't a luxury only an elite few can afford. If someone can't pay attention during these 3 measly minutes, what should i expect to happen during a 30 minute game that lasts 10 times as long?

What we actually need is that the Intent Pick cannot be selected whenever but is limited to the Intent Pick phase only. If people don't use it during that time, i think it's fair game to ban anything not outlined by communication as well.

This suggestion avoids problems where some people (who are absent in champ select), manage to miss the intended pick from a teammate because some player snuck it in when no one was looking.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

You fail to consider the fact that a champion that was an intent pick from the beginning can also be banned. Your suggestion offers no solution to the problem: people aren't paying attention to intent picks.

falldown0101 votes

dont blame them, if its intended, they know , someone will prob pick him and there before ban him, because they dont want to see him in the game

so why should they get a confirmation, if they want to ban him on purpose?

Elikain1 votes

There are two situations to the problem {At least how i see it):

  1. People intentionally don't care about intended picks
  2. People miss intent pick because someone picks after the IP phase

The first problem are people who are trolls or don't really care about intent picks in general. They ban what they want and a confirmation pop-up won't do anything for them.

The second problem is solved by only allowing intended picks to be picked in it's respectable phase and not after. So even if someone misses IP phase, they can still talk to the team to see if they can negotiate a trade with someone. So, there is no need for a confirmation window.

I understand why you want it to be added but the reason is "for the people who aren't paying attention". I don't really understand how can you not pay attention for 3 minutes, unless it's a bathroom break or something else but even if it's excused, we can fix that by limiting IPs to IP phase only. So, you can only pick an IP for the first 30 seconds and for the rest, you talk in chat.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

I don't understand the lack of attention in a ranked game either, but the fact is, this problem exists. You can tell people all you want that they're "being dumb for not paying attention yada yada" but that does not fix it.

People change intent picks as champ select goes on. That is why it is not limited to a single phase. I understand the accident of banning the wrong champ because a player changed their intent pick, but that is not what I am addressing here.

Yea just happened to me in my promo series, a dude banned my main saying that we can't go full ad,and being in promo I could not dodge. And that dude ended up going 4/10 with 35cs At the 10 min mark as ezreal adc leaving me no room to carry him even though I was 5/0 since he banned the champ that I would do best with.

Joke's on him. With all the armpen in the game, full AD scales better into late game, as long as there's enough peeling to sustain any possible burst ap damage for a few seconds or plenty of pre-engage poke.

Awesomedude88881 votes

Well, the ADC is called the AD carry for a reason. If you're building full AP on most ADC's you're doing something wrong.

falldown0102 votes

going with a full ad team is dangerous, the enemy team can counter build you easly and destroy, with 2 items

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

not really... right now there is so much armor pen that full AD teams can be quite successful.

COLDSNOWKILLER2 votes

This is why I don't pre-select.

Pre-selecting was a good idea in theory but it's plain to see that it just being used as a way for people to ban champs they don't agree with being in a team comp.

I do it too, mostly to Lee-Sin players.

P0IS0N IVY4 votes

There's a way to troll everything in the game. The thing is, trolls are going to troll. This suggestion stops people who aren't paying attention from banning the wrong champ.

Lock On2 votes

Trust me, it's no accident if I ban your "main" yet in the 200 games of yasuo you have on him you're sporting a 40% winrate and a 1.7 kda :^) and no, draft pick takes long enough as is.

cody dong2 votes

I don't think it should give you a confirmation because if it's a last second ban then it could result into a dodge, but maybe Riot could add like some sort of visual on a champion to indicate that a teammate has declared it.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

That would also help as well. My solution to the last second ban is just to freeze the timer for 5 seconds once that confirmation pops up.

Splashworks2 votes

Nah then it looks obvious when I ban so and so with a 20% win rate and a 0.5 kda in a decent amount of games...before saying oops they're op.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

If they have a 20% winrate on their intent pick, what makes you think they'll do better with a champ they're less comfortable with?

This is for the people who have 60 syndra games with a 60% win rate but decide to play taliyah who they've played about 10 times with a garbage win rate and KDA being shown. If they had that 20% win rate on their best champ, they wouldn't be in my elo lmfao..

P0IS0N IVY2 votes

You can't really guarantee they'll play a champ you approve of since you did probably just tilt them by banning their champ.

Either way, this suggestion wouldn't change the way you ban anyway. I suppose the difference is that your teammates will know you're a dick.

rtbf761092711 votes

Maybe you should focus on banning stuff the enemy could use against you instead of tilting your own team before the game even begins... You are the complete opposite of a team player and people who do this focus on harassing/blaming their team like 10x more than working together to beat the enemy

TouchFluffyTaìl2 votes

"Accident" or not, if you pick ADC - top/mid, Yasuo top, Ekko JG, Brand support, orTeemo in general - I will ban them

PureSilvrr1 votes

Whats wrong with ekko jungle?

WinTheWarOnPants1 votes

WTF wrong with teemo? in my experience teemo players are some of the most dependable players in league. i mean i know "i hate teemo" is a meme and all, but i didn't think people actually had a problem with him.... unless your a Nasus main... in which case i feel no sympathy for you lol

Just take the not-even-a-second to look at your team's side of the screen, why should they add an idiot-proofing pop-up for something so basic?

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

Would you like a teammate of yours to ban another's intent pick because they weren't paying attention in a ranked game?

This is not about YOU. It's about everyone else on your team. If you don't do it, then fine. This addition hurts you in absolutely no way.

Okay, so try being less of an oblivious dimwit that nobody would want on their team. If you can't spare the millisecond to look before you press a button, should they also make the minimap a hundred times bigger for special needs like yours? Since you're so benevolently concerned for others, then make yourself useful instead of begging unnecessary changes to be imposed on actual humans who don't have trouble using their eyes and don't want another lock-in button to click after the first.

P0IS0N IVY1 votes

Why are you throwing insults at me and implying that I am the one banning the wrong champs? Again, I reiterate, it's to help your team. How does this suggestion detriment you in any way? It's to help "oblivious dimwits" as you so kindly put it be less of "oblivious dimwits" in YOUR ranked game. So how is that a bad thing?

And then you can make it all the way to your lane without turning your brain on.

how about no?
