Honestly Maokai has the most healing out of any tank in this game so long trades are actually in his favor.

If possible, I always start spirit visage, with a glacial shroud picked up when it's convenient. Flex boots, whatever you need. Sunfire, Righteous Gory, usually a bramble vest to punish coward ADCs. Finish out with randuins, thorn mail, adaptive helm. Whatever you need, they're all great on maokai.
