I wouldn't say I want a refund

I would rather get a cool skin for my favorite champion. Like, make some kind of Remembrance Skin line, one for every single champ, and let the players who have been here since Season 1 or whatever choose their own. I don't need 100K blue essence, I don't need a refund. I just want to get to have a little something cool, you know?

So let me get this straight; you want Riot to create 138 skins in a handful of months, none of which would make money for the company, just so long-time players get a mildly pleasant surprise?

Even if they were cheap skins, that's an asinine sinkhole of resources, and it would never get approved.

They don't have to be ready in a few months. But once they've picked a theme it would be easy to reproduce on champs. I know it's a big sink into production, but so is doling out a billion blue essence, don't you think? How much content are they giving away for free then?

Preseason isn't that far away, and players won't be too happy if their reward for the runes they lost comes a year afterwards, and it's a single cheap skin.
No it wouldn't. You don't seem to comprehend the scale of your proposal. You need a theme that works with all 138 champions, without altering their particle effects or VO's (good luck). You need concept art of each and every champion, which will likely take several drafts. You need to retexture 138 models (which, guess what, is gonna take a lot of drafts). You need to quality check each and every one of these models. At the end of the process, they would have just had the skin team working for a year (and that's a low estimate) on 138 cheap skins. Imagine Riot's skin team like a costume designer. If a costume designer has to make one "Super Suit", they can do it. If they have to make 138, all of which are unique, high quality costumes, of the same theme, and individually identifiable at a glance, and also have to fit the personalities of each and every one of the 138 characters, they're going to have a stroke. If you then tack on that they won't make a penny off of it, they'd have to be insane to accept.
GIving out free essence costs them nothing. The essence can only be used for things that were either free already or in absurd quantities in the temp BE store.

The should be doing something like that anyway for mastery ranks, maybe not this guy's idea. Heroes of the Storm has mastery skins for players to unlock after hitting I think rank 10. Loved my aureial or whatever the angel woman's name is master skin in that game.

That's what I'm saying. And that's been one of my grievances with the Victorious Skin line, is that I don't play Elise, Morgana, Janna, Sivir, or Ashe. The Remembrance line could make it so you get to pick your own champ skin, and every time you use it, everyone knows you were a season 1 LoL lifer, or whatever.

even if it was a great skin it costs a obscene amount of IP to buy so unless you've been stacking up I you won't be able to buy it anyways.

Theres gunna be a exclusive shop during preseason that cost Blue Essence and some of the rewards look very interesting such as:

icons of actual champions
exclusive skins (ie. Urf Warwick)

Yeah, and that's cool, but they're "exclusive" not, like, Exclusive! I'm glad to have something other than name changes to spend IP on, don't get me wrong, but I just think Individualized Content>funds.

Its probably gunna be Urfww, ufo corki, rusty blitz things like that which are ultra rare and go for hundred on ebay. i hope the champion icon they showed in the video has every single champion so you can sport your main.

Presumably there are going to be other things in the blue essence shop for a limited time at essence prices only achievable through getting a big refund, not just Urfwick.

It would have to be one special skin for one champ regardless if you play them or not.

Like triumphant ryze for winning a riot sponsored tournament.

Or judgement Kayle for playing in season 1.

I recommend riot make rune goddess Morgana to commemorate the farewell of runes. Plus to kind of go with judgement Kayle for old players.

I haven't read through the whole thread so sorry if this is already said. Anyway, I think if they were to do this for people from the beginning they could do it for champions that have also been there since the beginning. This would at the very least lower the massive 138 skins they would have to make for this idea.
