What League will become : My prediction

With the new items being introduced into the game, will all new buffs, all the utility that items have got, the four jungle enchantments, super changes to many AP items, only increasing their utility and decreasing raw damage, i think this is going to someplace we won't want in the future.

The game is becoming item dependent a lot. The team comp matters less now and the item build matters more.

The so called "BALANCED" state is becoming more of a "NEUTRAL" state. where you can pick any 5 champions and all that matters is their R. nothing else. "Utility" is getting more than required preference over damage.

And suddenly League is not about champions anymore. It is about summoners. It is not about you playing the champion, its about playing with the items. Even if you don't have a team comp that can engage, just get 2 righteous glory on the team. Now your team plays "engage style" rather than working around their own compositions to make plays and get a comeback.

Rather than the thoughts of a player being " I AM ZED/SYNDRA/FIORA/LEBLANC and I Will Kill Whoever comes in my way" , now the player thinks "Who should I pick to help my team, what does my team have and what not"..... The notion of a "Standard" team comp is setting in everyone heads, where the game has micro level diversity but lacks macro level diversity; Which means players can have multiple builds but the team ends up in the same spot.

its like one team is 20+25+35+10+10 and the other is 60+10+15+10+5 .... both equals 100 but First team is "all-engage" comp and the second one is "protect the carry" comp. and using items all of them make up for differences.

This is just a thought of mine and the prediction may not be right, but one day people will prefer champs that are "Right" instead of champs that they "Like".

Tip: Zed loves item 3023

So, you're worried that a team-based game will require teamwork to succeed?

The picks have always been like this, especially at higher ELO. Many many games are won in champ select, this started happening around season 3 I wanna say when the mobility really went up.

I guess it really comes down to do you want the game to be decided in champion select or do you want the game to be decided on the battlefield (or a combination of both)?

The way I see it, the item changes let you play the champions you want, since you can adapt how you play the champion and their build to counter the challenges that you're going against. It could bring lower popularity picks up in popularity a little bit, since they're no longer so niche that they have to be sidelined unless they're against a very specific champion. This lightens the need for the balance/update teams to get to every single team.
