Playing good vs. playing bad: matter of mentality

I peaked at D2 last season and at times felt like I could do even better than that, but then other times I'll hardcore demote despite not thinking that my playstyle is much different than before. Currently I'm at Plat 3 with D4 mmr, but I feel like that too will slowly demote to around P1-P2 mmr until I hit my big brain boost and somehow play like a d2 or better again.

I just find my own brain confusing. Why is my game mentality sometimes really good but other times god awful (I'm reminded every game if I play poorly by the lovely players of diamond league smh). I think I'm the most inconsistent player skill wise out there, but only for league of legends. I played through dark souls III for the second time a few days ago and it felt like second nature, even beating the Nameless King on my secound bout. But for leauge I either play pretty well or like garbage and hardly ever anywhere in between.

Anyone else go through bouts of high IQ gameplay only to play piss poor a few days later?

Personally it's a matter of how engaged I am in the action, mostly gated by how tired I am in real life.

Sometimes I just play yolo and dive into the enemy team or walk in the jungle with no vision, at other times I pay attention to the mini map at all times and only take responsable decisions.

Random thought I had just now:

Maybe how good we play can be a result of the labeling theory. If some of us are called trash every game then maybe that's how some of us end up playing like, whereas if we're congratulated all the time for good plays then we'll think of ourselves as good players which will propel our good gameplay even further.

Probably wrong/ this doesn't apply to many people, but still a thought.
