"Practice champions in normals before you play them in ranked"

I fully understand the concept of practicing champions in normal games before you play them in ranked. ranked is where we come to play champions that we know well and advance in ranking

HOWEVER

I've found while learning vayne and riven recently that people will flame you in normals regardless of whether or not you want to learn a champion. People will become frustrated that you didn't play your best champion so you could do really well and carry the game. You're more likely to get flamed and reported rather then having them understand that i want to practice my animation canceling before playing ranked. The worst part is if i try to mention it or talk about it i get responses along the lines of "Your one of those people who says that its just normals so you don't have to try fucking troll".

TLDR: people want to practice champions in normals instead of ranked and then get flamed regardless

food for thought

Whats worse is when they tell you to go practice vs bots.

It is my long held belief that playing bots not only reinforces bad habits but also makes you worse at the game over time.

Ranked: Practice champs in norms before you try them here

Draft: Practice champs in blinds before you try them here.

Blinds: Practice champs in bots before you try them here.

Bots: (If somehow you suck here) Practice champs in sandbox before you try them here.

Sandbox: (If you find a way to suck here) Uninstall

Aside from the last two really (jokes) these are the responses you'll get for doing poorly in those modes. Truthfully, just don't first time in ranked. Draft is fine, you don't lose anything in norms. People flame because they need an excuse as to why they lost. No one likes thinking they may have been part of the problem. Although some could argue draft is supposed to be a ranked simulator, so you shouldn't try new champs there, but I don't fully agree with that while at the same time acknowledge the merit in those words. Up to you. Don't take norms flaming to heart, however if you want to be the most courteous player you can be, blinds would be your best bet. Bots is a waste of time, only existing for new players to learn actual game mechanics like tower range and objectives on the map

I try to practice champions in normals.

I have an unusually unlucky streak of the enemy team having a platinum+ player as my lane opponent, and I end up not learning a whole lot as I get annihilated in lane to the point where I can barely farm and can't contribute much of anything.

To be perfectly clear, normals is not for practicing everything and anything.

  • Practice tool - Mechanics
  • Ex. Attack move, catching draven axes, last hitting, vayne q auto reset
  • Normals - decision making and doing things you can only do to real people,
  • Ex. taking objectives, hitting skillshots, practicing new roles Also getting a feel for the champion (like warming up)

People in normals expect you to be the same skill level, and not be stupid. Sometimes they get it mixed up when you really just don't know what to do because of your lack of experience and you end up looking stupid. Others are toxic and just wanna blame others to keep their egos intact.

As long as you are somewhat mechanically sound, and you don't feed the enemy team like an all you can eat buffet it's totally wrong to flame people for using normals to practice.

There are people who only play Norms. Especially on servers such as Garena and Oceania. We don't even get Normal Draft. Only Blind Pick and Ranked Solo/Flex.

The experience of Blind Picks on these servers is really bad already- Pls do not make it worse by going into it clueless.

tell them its just normals, and youre practising a new champion.

then /mute all

who the fuck cares what theyre throwing at you? you dont have to listen to it. they can report you, but all thats going to do is reduce the value of their reports, because you wont getr banned for practising new champions in normals.

its better than trying that shit in ranked games.
