nerfing rylai kills about 5 underwhelming champions who absolutely rely on it. all because you cant dodge skillshots or build mr.

50% of those champions who "abuse" rylai's you listed i wouldnt even consider strong picks, if even viable.

oh yeah? go tell the community you want morde and karthus buffed with their kits as is. that will go super well.

most of those champions do not "abuse it" they BUILD it, big difference. out of those you listed, i say only Azir Zyra abuse it. but azir already got nipped in the butt because of it so.

iceborn gauntlet doesnt grant anywhere as much damage as rylais does

65 armor + 100% base ad + 30% slow field on a 1.5 second cooldown < 100 AP + 400 health + 20/40% slow on abilities for 1/1.5 second

wut? rylai gives 100 ap flat. and a slow effect on abilities.

gauntlet increases your damage (thanks to sheen) every time you use an ability and makes your auto attacks slow. i dont know about you, but unless its a channeled aoe field you can move, that less than 2% of the champion pool has, you get a much better slow out of gauntlet. i mean not to mention the 20% cdr

You're giving up too much to have Rylais in Kat's build. You can build it last if you want, and you don't need abyssal. But other than that, it's bad. Delays powerspikes too much and survivability is useless on her if you're playing her correctly. She doesn't even need the slow considering her ult never gets channeled for more than a second anyway.

As for ASol, I haven't played him other than a few times during release, but I felt like I needed rylais for people to stop outrunning the stars. item 3030 slow is half a second, so I don't see how that's even close to a rylais replacement

I don't play anything that uses Rylais. And I almost NEVER build it. Why would I feel the need to justify it? Check my match history and tell me how often I build that item. Do you even play kat? She doesn't do dps. She instakills people and gets out. She's not about spamming w and q until her target dies. She also never channels her ult for more than half a second because using Q E and W during a reset is better. You know why it's her highest win % build? Because its only ~700 games and it's being built last. You know when people build their last item? Late-end game. You know who's incredibly strong and is already likely winning late game? Kat.

But hey, your name has Garen in it. So of course you hate slows.

why would she not build it? its one of the highest ap items in the game. if she wants to burst people, its one of the best items to get.

she would build it for raw ap, extra utility to slow people and make it harder for them to get away from her ult, and for raw survivability since she gets into close range.

almost every fucking mage build has rylais as a core item right now.

since they changed the passive and nerfed its only counter, its busted. just because you personally arent buying the item, doesnt mean a lot of other people dont do it successfully almost every game.

If you want to know my rank, you search it up yourself. Otherwise, keep it out. I never said it's not broken. When have I ever said that? I said it's trash on Kat and I personally never build it on anyone. I completely understand it's value. It's just useless in my play style and champion pool. Don't assume things.

You don't even play kat. "Oh, rylais slows people." No shit sherlock. She kills things fast. You don't need a rylais to instantly burst people. You play kat right? You don't die in rotation and resets unless you're losing the teamfight already.

No one that knows what they're doing would rush it. It's not core on her and it never was. It's a utility pick if you really want it, but it's bad unless it's the last item built. Bad build path. She doesn't want a giant belt. She wants a needlessly large rod.

What is this "every mage" is building rylais thing? You mean half of them?

they already said that theyre going to nerf the item in preseason, but it just sucks that certain champions are entirely unplayable as long as people are running one or multiple rylais per game.

Also, if you want Rylai's nerfed, you're also going to have to accept that a lot of mobility skills will need equivalent nerfs since Rylai's is necessary for countering escape-artist champions.

except that rylais doesnt counter mobility.

it mainly shits on champions with low mobility who have nothing to compensate for the fact that theyre nailed to the ground.

fizz wont stop trollpoling in your face when slowed by rylais, riven wont stop bunnyhopping around, zed wont stop blinking in and out of fights with his shadows.

but what it does is prevent champions without hard mobility tools entirely from moving and completely disables them.

so the consequences are that high mobility picks are reinforced by rylais in every game, not countered by the item.

mobile champions counter rylais permaslows, not the other way round.

You know Riot doesn't just Gut things.

They are going to gut it in a way that at least pays lip service to the item. (and the champions who use it) And they do that by deciding a direction for it. Yet as far as I'm aware, they haven't decided whether they will gut the HP or the AP.

If the gut the HP, they turn it into a kiting item, which I feel would remove the synergy from some of it's core users. (Vlad, swain, and anyone close range) Yet I fear that if the nerf the AP, it will just be forgotten about. (Cause people are still under the impression that AP is everything.)
