I know us silvers are trash at the game but play do not put unranks on our teams.

hunterspec··29 votes·3,422 views

I know all the high elo's think unranks and silvers are the same but in this elo having one let alone 2 unranks on your team is a instant loss.

I always check before every game on op.gg to see if the other team has smurfs or if we have unranks on our team to see if the game is over before it even starts. last game, thank god it was on the other team was a unranked bot lane. finished 5-20.

most entry-level "unranks" are silver tier, idk why you think you're magically better than them just because they haven't been assigned a rank yet. That's especially because you're in the average elo, unranks are more likely to be silver-skilled than any other elo...

Most people hitting level 30 and jumping into ranked play worse than bronze players.

Slythion5 votes

not really, most players are averaged to be about silver 4 if I remember correctly. The skill difference between bronze + silver is hardly anything at all anyways

From my experience in season 5 of climbing from bronze 5 to silver 2, Silver 5 is the rung that prevents people from falling into bronze when they deserve it. The people in Bronze 1 are about as skilled as people in mid to low silver 4, with silver 5 being an elo hell of sorts. Silver 4 is also not the best since around there new players in their first ranked game are dumped there. I've not tried to play ranked yet this season because I took around 2 months off, and have played about 60 games to get back to where I was in terms of skill.

TL;DR - 5 in almost any rank is an Elo Hell, Silver 4 is where people with 0 ranked experience are dumped (The first time MF in ranked from February is not something you want on your team, because they can do something such as walk up to a 12/3 Jayce and mele form ult while being 0/7.)

Apollogy2 votes

People who don't have any ranked experience are not dumped in silver 4.

I know this from personal experience and from watching higher elo players play on smurf accounts that are playing their ranked placements for the first time. Your normal games give you an mmr, and that mmr is used as a baseline for your first time playing ranked. The highest you can place is gold 1, even if your mmr is plat and you win 10/10 games.

Higher elo players will typically place in gold and play their first ranked game in a gold or plat elo game. New players are not simply dumped in s4 because that's the average elo of league of legends. They're placed where they belong. Yes, a lot of new players might end up in s4 elo games, but being the average elo, that's where most people should end up.

Win your first game in provisionals and you're pretty much in Silver. Then people feed out of their minds in every game. The reason they don't drop is because it's EXTREMELY hard to drop to bronze from Silver, and because there are morons on the other team doing the same stuff. Play in silver elo. There is such a massive difference in skill between players. It's crazy. You can face an enemy one game that goes 0-14 with 2.3 cs/min, then face an enemy next game who goes even with you, then face someone that is much better than you. Why? Because it's a crap shoot of who gets the more hurr durrs on their team on whether they win and lose. Unless you can hard carry, you're not going to climb with any predictability.

That was my experience completely as a solo que support. I did a bad thing and took a sleeping pill and while I thought I was sleeping I was actually doing my promos and woke up the next day to find myself happily in bronze 4. I was getting 36 or so lp per win so it didn't take very long at all to get to bronze 1. Winning 3 games to get into silver was kind of a dice roll but after I won my 2nd promos into silver I went on like a 30 game winning streak. I got up to S3 within a week and then I lost 10 games in a row where I as the support was the only positive score on the team. I've decided if I plan on getting out of silver I'll have to stop playing support. This season I'm not gonna bother. I can already tell it's going to be a dice roll rather than a skill check.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Been there done that, clownfiesta easy to run over. There is no skill difference between any silver. Seriously what you descripe is more plat elo. There you have legit silver players-diamond players all thrown together and god knows how these silvers got into plat in the first place.

wow...real mature response bud. If you can't handle a different opinion, don't go posting anything online. There was nothing offensive about what I said, unless you are feeling attacked because I explained why I thought your opinion was wrong?

In that case you are just sensitive. Baseless name-calling is just immature and unproductive. Please, try to handle yourself better

Mcprowlington1 votes

I just don't really buy that. The thing is, every time there is an unranked they always feed and they always get flamed by the team. It sucks to watch because really, it isn't their fault that rito starts you there when you decide to play ranked. I also remember being placed in silver 4 immediately after hitting level 30 and getting flamed until falling to bronze.

Anidan2 votes

I think last I remember, high bronze/low silver was the "average" point, which means Bronze 1/2 and Silver 4/5.

I think. I could be wrong, though.

Mcprowlington1 votes

I didn't mean to debate that it's not average. But you're talking about the average of ranked players - which is actually a fairly small portion (40%?) of the community in a competitive game that has been out for 7 years.

and I think that average is different from the average play of people that just hit level 30.

In NA, bronze and low silver are the same. However, unless with significant experience, a new level 30 definitely shouldn't be placed in silver. It should be bronze 1 tops. The system is flawed anyway. Yesterday I was playing with a diamond and a plat on my team in silver 3 lol.

Not to mention during my promos in solo Q I got queued with this massive amount of feeders and low-skill players belonging in bronze 5, so I went flex instead since I placed higher. Pretty sure I'll be gold this week. No idea how I got placed this low anyway.

**It's very hard to determine a players individual skill on rank alone. **

I've seen diamonds troll, I've seen bronzies carry - it always depends. It's usually something specific that they are bad at that holds them back.

I have, quite often. It really depends. You can use it as a general guideline, sure - but you never really know how the matchup will play out until it actually does.

I find I am surprised most often by Silver/Gold level players playing above their rank.

weird because I see the exact opposite for me. I see plats(last season) for some reason playing in my games and not going 20-0. must be boosted

k wìx2 votes

This happens for me as well! Don't get me wrong, I definitely see Platinum players underperform, but it doesn't happen as often. Also, I'm okay with this - it can be tiring to play the game @ high levels of play all the time, trolling can be a lot of fun, and trying out new champions is obviously going to mess people up as well. In otehr words, there are plenty of reasons why a given player might underperform.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

BEcause they are low golds/silver boosted to plat 5 by dynQ last season

Apollogy1 votes

I used to be an unranked that would carry nearly every single game.

Unranked players in normals still have a normals mmr.

The reason they're in that game with you is because your normals mmr and their normals mmr are similar or the team's avg normals mmr is similar to the other team's avg normals mmr.

Shuyin1782 votes

I'll be honest with you, I'm unranked by choice, but I'm confident that as a minimum I'd be somewhere in Gold (looking at past ranks I was silver my 1st year playing, only played placement matches the 2 following preseasons so I never went up the ladder, instead I went down because I didn't know placement matches only dropped you). You're just as bad as the people hating on Silver if you hate on unranked players, a number of us choose not to play the toxic ranked environment.

Well if you're unranked and you decide not to rank, that's all you.

OP is talking about new players who are unranked, who get placed with them.

But where else would unranked players be placed? Even OP admits Silvers aren't that great, I wouldn't think there'd be a problem if unrankeds were placed with low silver / Bronze 3+

60% of players are bronze match the unranked with the lowest and most populous rank only. Silver people need to climb without having these obstacles throwing games. Silver is far more of a shit show than bronze ever was and removing these obstacles players have no control over is important. Im silver 4 right now and climbing, but jesus christ, Bronze was no where near toxic and tilting as silver is. Not even cause its hard, just the player's attitudes are worse in silver then bronze. Silver is the place where people are transitioning and bad players are left behind or boosted and good players are climbing or being held back.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Isn't it rather sad when unranked get placed in silver and here are people with 100s of games every season still in silver? They just can't accept they are mediocre as bronze can't expect they are garbage looking for reasons why they are where they are

Incarceration1 votes

My ass. People have been placed in silver just to end up in bronze 5 next year. I looked at your account too and you were bronze for two years. You may be a smurf, but that doesn't change the fact you were bronze for two years.

Shuyin1781 votes

If you actually read You would have seen the part when I said "I only did placements". You can't go up in rank from placement matches, only down. If I cared enough about ranked to play it then I wouldn't be there. My game understanding, champion pool, awareness, and mechanics are a lot better now than they were 2+ years ago. I didn't touch ranked last season because I didn't care about it.

Incarceration1 votes

There is no legitimate evidence on your account that proves you can reach Gold. I can't even see your past season track record on op.gg, and based on your statement, where you can't end up higher than you get from last season, I see that in season 4 you ended up Bronze 2 while in season 5 you ended up Bronze 1. Furthermore, looking into your normal games, I see you play around the same level of normal games I play, and I only reached Silver 3. Something obviously doesn't add up.

deadlychuck2 votes

What are you talking about? Unranked players are pretty much always placed in silver after placements, but for all you know you've got a diamond player on your team who will carry you.

They are a wild card, but asking them to not be put on your team is assuming they are all worse than silver.

five oh tree 2 votes

I don't know. Last season, I had unrankeds in my mid-gold elo games and they played just as well as everyone else. the mmr system is usually pretty accurate, in my experience. People do start out at different skill levels.

Eunson2 votes

Majority of people are Silver, first time ranked players should start here and be placed above or below average...makes perfect sense to me. You have to start somewhere, might as well be at the norm.

That's not a smurf that's just a one trick or good aatrox.

The only "assumption" you can make to calling somebody a smurf is by looking at the game on lolskill.net, and then seeing how many normal games they played (usually 60 normal games and 10 ranked games shows the player experience boosted straight into ranked or bought a smurf account pre-leveled.)

Being good at the game =/= smurfing from a high elo

I mean, you're in Silver, right? Not to be rude, but surely at Silver you have more important things to worry about than calling out champion choice/balance, don't you? I saw some good Aatroxes in my day, and plenty in higher elos. A good Aatrox can actually pull out some wins, like any other carry.

They usually fall out if they're boosted

Like after placements, I doubt someone who's Silver / Gold level will get a decent score.

They'll get placed low plat, and eventually go back down.

When I played my promos 6 months after hitting level 30 last season, I was ranked Silver 1 (aka equal/better than the people on my teams). I understand that's not the usual case, but don't assume just having unranked players = a loss.
