Supporting help

Guys, here's my op.gg https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=SnakDatSmilesBak . I'm doing well in lane and getting my adc fed. I'm keeping baron, drag, herald, and my lane warded. I'm roaming to gank other lanes. I'm banning fiora most of the time. I'm making mostly great calls for objectives, I don't know how i can get tips on this but I'd appreciate any. Hell I even quit smoking but I simply don't know what to improve. I constantly have at least 3 wards on the map. Any help would be great! I climbed pretty fast but I'm hitting a wall in G3, so any tips to help a support get past this would be great.

Ps: Don't tell me to stop playing support yorick unless you have a really good reason. I have like 50 more wins than losses on it, i know how it works and it does work, and I enjoy it a lot. So tips that aren't related to champ select are best, but if you really want to give champ select advice I'll take it.

Rush sightstone first item every time all the time. I would go grasp or thunderlords for yorick support. And rush locket 2nd or 3rd item just because mountain gives you 10% CDR. Go Zz then build full tank.

Don't rush sighstone every game. Don't play yorick support. Don't get zzrot. This post couldn't be more incorrect.

It's a different style of support. I don't use damage or heals or picks, I use pressure to win games. Yorick is the only champ who can support and pressure hard enough to carry a game while still having a mix of enough cc and damage to support.

If you think it's bad I encourage you to give it a chance.

You're in gold, don't play yorick. Play somehting like blitz thresh people can't dodge in your elo. It's actually free everybody is so predictable. Started an unranked to diamond run. Hit diamond with a 72% winrate on thresh in like 100 games or something forget exactly what it was.

This is the exact type of advice I didn't want but ok thanks. I agree, it's stupid easy to hit hooks at this elo once you're used to it . Do you have any real support tips? Since obviously you're better at support than me, what are some things you do that every support should be doing?

My problem isn't lane. I usually crush lane if my adc can right click, but I'm just not able to corral my team well enough. I can't keep them from overstaying and it's costing me a lot of games. I know I make mistakes and I'm trying to figure out what those mistakes are so I can fix them.

That's why I suggested other supports. The sad truth of low elo is teams honestly just have no idea what to do. Split pushing and pressuring is very good if played correctly, but even split pushing is a team effort. They need to know when to pressure, when to engage, when to play passive, when to not show on the map etc.... If you want to play yorick support, by all means go for it have fun. It's just that at your elo, that style of support is sub optimal due to how your teammates play.

I'm not saying you should be a metaslave. But just know going in that it may be infuriating to play as. Some games, even though yorick is a champ that should be split pushing and pressuring the map, because of your team's inability to play that style of game you may have to just group with them. All of this will be very annoying at times but it is just the sad truth about playing off-meta in lower elo.

Either way I wish you the best of luck in your games.

Guys I know Yorick support isn't the best. But my goal isn't to hit a certain elo, I want to get better at supporting and I can do that no matter which champ I play.
