Why is there autofill in Bronze and Silver?

Bronze is 50% of the ranked playerbase, Silver is 25% of the ranked playerbase. Are you telling me there are not enough people for a quick queue? Autofill is a necessary feature. I get that, in Diamond-Challenger queues are gonna be long without it or with it, platinum and to some extent gold can be irritating as far as I've read, and autofill is the only reasonable system here, but for Bronze and silver, queue times are just too short to justify the system in place right now. I played before autofill in bronze and silver, I've played after autofill, and queue times have not noticeably gone down. I decided that see what an impact this made on gameplay. I played 100 ranked games even though I finished climbing out of the hellhole that was Bronze. 103 games, because 3 games had an AFK that made a winning team lose, or a close game shift the balance. From those hundred games, I won 51, and lost 49, so I actually got a pretty even spread.

From the games I lost, over 70% of them had an autofilled teammate and four times, it was me, twice I significantly under performed because I was autofilled to jungle, and twice I did decent but still lost because of both me and team doing bad.

From the games I won, less than 20% of them games I won had an autofill, and 3 times, it was me autofilled to support.

70% of losses involved autofill, and 20% of wins involved it. In Bronze and Silver autofill has obvious effects, and it doesn't encourage players to learn other roles because they get a 3 game leniency and they ignore autofill until next time they are autofilled. I have checked players stats after they do horribly in autofill, and I've found people with 0% winrate on support, out of 5 or so games, and up to 70% winrate in the roles they ask for. If a player can't play all roles, perhaps they don't deserve gold, but they don't deserve to have a guaranteed loss in bronze and silver when their winrate is otherwise very high, especially when it was to cut down queue times by less than a minute. This isn't about matchmaking, this isn't about bad teammates and "im losing because of my teammates", this is about autofill being useless in low elo and causing a disproportionate amount of losses.

Of the 70% of people in lost games, I haven't guessed once, each time I've either asked or been told. People join queue begging to trade roles all too often. I played a lot of extra ranked games because I had a lot of under performing teammates begging for another role in lobby, try their hardest, lose and get flamed. I thought it was just coincidence. I was seeing so many losses directly due to someone autofilled, that it was pretty clear this was no coincidence

TLD;DR conducted experiment to see how much of an effect losses had in low elo, 70% of losses had an autofilled teammate involved, and 20% of wins had an autofilled teammate involved. Autofill has near no effect on low elo queue times anyway.

It's because there are much fewer people queuing up for support or jungle than there are the other three roles.

There's a whole lot less people who want to Jungle or play Support in Bronze and silver.
