I spent a ton of IP on runes. Do I at least get that IP back?

Look, I play two or three games on a good day. It took a lot of time getting my five pages set up. If you don't think this is a problem, know that I have been playing the game for a little less than five years, and only own a third of the champions. I've been working, I've been studying, I've been living.

Do the right thing, Riot, and compensate us for the runes we bought. Don't make us buy IP boosts to merely halve the grind to get the IP back.

What do they owe you? You bought and used runes. You took advantage of having them.

You also bout them while playing a FREE game with FREE IP.

The thing is, the game is free, but the price of getting IP is time. Seeing as some of us don't have as much time as others, IP is more valuable to some people than it is to others. And using runes and taking advantage of them as a counterargument is like saying "you played (insert champion name here). You're a scrub." I don't buy that argument.

Yes, but you had time with the runes while I was off earning IP to get champions to play the game better. You had time with all the little buffs runes give you, I didn't. You got time to be op, you were just taking it for granted.

Runes don't make characters OP. They boost your early game by giving a small yet helpful amount of power while barely doing a thing late game. And I'm taking nothing for granted.

But you worked for the stuff and took it for granted that you'd have those runes. If you had them for a long time, you got our IP's worth. You chose to spend the time grinding the IP, it was your choice to get the runes.

Look, if I had the ability to go ahead in time, I would have seen this incoming rework, and would have reconsidered the purchases. But alas, I cannot do that. Of course, if I did, I would be a vital part of national security, and make millions just by warning the government of any attacks. I would also be able to bet on every super bowl and make more money and retire when I'm still this young, and be able to play league as much as I want, making this a moot point.

Time you wanted to spend playing the game anyway. If you valued a specific Champion over those 5 years you would have bought them then continued to work on your Rune collection.

They're still considering what they'll do when they phase out the existing Rune system. Patience.

Good. That means more time for them to notice this thread. And it's not that I drooled over certain champions. I just spent a lot of time grinding to get those runes and the pages. I just don't want them to say "you're S.O.L," and have to do it again.

The IP you spent this season on Runes is refunded 100%. The IP you spent past seasons on Runes is refunded 40%. The IP you spent on Rune pages is refunded 100%.

The 100% refund is for rune purchases made since May, which was more like halfway through the season. The 40% refund was only an idea pitched around in surveys, it has not been confirmed. As far as we know there is no planned refund for the IP spent on rune pages at all.

If it was from the survey, it was likely to see if those IP refund amount would be acceptable or not. While official, not final numbers.

They have already stated that they will have some sort of system to compensate for people who have spent IP on runes in the past, but it also will most likely not be an IP refund.

As someone with 19 rune pages and several full sets of runes including those expensive hybrid pen before Lethality existed...

I don't really care. I sank IP into runes because I didn't feel like picking up champions. When they started the whole IP for Chromas, I've been doing that instead. Runes only felt like they mattered when setting up for Jungle, largely because every other lane you were most likely facing someone that had the same rune setup so it sort of canceled each other out. And Riot marked down all the "Essential" runes maybe six months or so after I had acquired all of those particular runes, so my ability to be upset over wasting IP has long expired.

i bought lots of runes, but im not mad. why? because i got use out of them, I got my $$s worth. But also, I flippin hate runes. I am glad they are doing away with this archaic system, and glad new people don't have to suffer it. Sucks for me a bit, but it's healthier in the long run.
