Work on your Mechanics!!

So I've been told that, and I'm Bronze 2. I'm not really sure what the broad term "mechanics" stands for, can anyone help me?

So far, I know / Learnt:

  • CSing ability
  • Positioning (thx Executive Pigeon)
  • managing your resource (mana, rage, energy) (thx Executive Pigeon)
  • ability to reliably land skillshots (thx Executive Pigeon)

If possible, please tell me how to practice these as well. Now I've seen enough CSing practice drills, so I know how to practice that, but the rest? Help me out here. Plus I'm just bronze, so there are alot of things I don't know but seems 2nd nature to most of you higher elos.

Mechanics essentially refers to anything that involves playing the game. Positioning, CSing, managing your resource (mana, rage, energy), ability to reliably land skillshots, knowing how to gank/countergank/counterjungle/zone, etc. 'Work on your mechanics' is basically saying 'Get good'

the rest of the stuff takes time you practice it in every game you play the machanics you are looking for come with time played with the champ i have played zed for years now and have his machanics down pat im not the best but i can still pull of some sweet stuff but i had to train with him and play him a lot and just accept all the defeats that come with that to get good you must learn to first practice and understand that you wont pick this up instantly its something that will take time and will happen somewhat unnoticed by you.

Working well under pressure is the biggest thing for me, panicking screws you up pretty hard. I'm not that good of a player though

If you have a friend willing to help, there's a good exercise that will help you out on this for laning. Have you play the champ that you want to get better at this, and then have them go as Cait. They just lay down traps while laning, don't use her wave clear (she can use her net though), and your job is to get cs while trying to get/keep her at ~50% health. If you go lower or step on a trap, that round ends and look at your cs score.

Edit: It would also help if your training partner knows the champ that you're trying to get better at, so at the end of the round, they can give you some constrictive criticism.

mechanics=micro=how you control your champion

good mechanics alone can get you to ~plat

then you´ll have to also step up your makro game...which means learning to play the map (vision/objective control + winconditions/opportunity calls).

ya .. I know mechanics can take me to Plat, which is why I'm asking what I need to do and what do I practice.

Macro I can work on later, but I do want to get better at my mechanics first.

well, easiest thing is csing obviously.

related to that is laning....meaning you learn how to trade effectivly, how to zone your opponent and how to freeze/push waves - and also how to not get ganked. And also you learn the matchups, most Champs have some unique weaknesses you have to abuse to beat them - and in some matchups the best you can do is not dying. Some of that you can learn through vids i guess, most is just practice and experience.

after that comes teamfighting, though even in high elo you see a lot of people that donßt really know how to do that and instead just relay on getting fed in lane so they donßt have to excel at it.
