It's a fencing lunge. If your opponent can't be seen, you don't wave your magical rapier that bends backwards and hits their invisible ass. The precision of the targeting mechanic is fine thematically for a lunging stab, but it makes no goddamn sense that she should auto target champions regardless of vision status.
