Mages, Oh how I love mages....

I just refunded a skin that wasn't as great as I hoped and now I have the money to get ANY character.... But who shall I get?

I love mages to death, but it is so rare to see them played at my level if it isn't a starter price mage or a free rotation mage. So, I am asking the community what mages are the best out there and which ones are the most fun to play!

(Syndra looks like she would either be a totally fun character to play OR one that is a BEAR to play, so I am asking about her too...)

i would try leblanc and annie. annie because she is very easy to pick up and fun to play. leblanc because she is just a champion that lets you completly screw with your laning opponent and is pointless to chase

If you're completely new to the game, I'd go with Annie or maybe Malzahar.

If you're up for the challenge, you can try out Syndra or Brand. As a Syndra main, she has awesome burst, self peel, and the ability to stun an entire team, but is difficult to play.

Brand on the other hand might be the best teamfighter in the game in low ELOs.

I would not recommend spending RP to unlock a champion. Just save that RP for a skin later on down the road.

As for what champion to get I would suggest trying out Anivia.

buy Veigar he is pretty good oh wait they nerfed him to the ground... well you can try Cassiopeia she's so interactive oh wait she just spams e... guess you could try Syndra she is a great early game bully oh wait her q her most important spell deals almost the same damage early game as her auto attacks.... well there is always i mean he is still strong for now...until riot sees people having fun with him...

i could also recommend you some adcs try MissFortune she's a jack of all trades wait sorry all the other adcs do everything she does better... you could try Twitch he is a great late game assassin oh wait Vayne does what he does better and has a better early game... well you can try Varus oh wait he's a midlaner now because idk

Can you use names? some of the pictures people use are ambiguous and searching by name is SO much easier

actually veigar isn't in quite as bad a position as most people think, since the stuns stops dashes, but it still kinda sucks to have the delay

gah I wish there was 1 player sandbox test mode so that I could try out champions before buying, without getting scrutiny!

You could do a custom game with a free week champion against bots but it doesn't give you the best idea of how strong they are because bots are pretty bad

Unfortunately, the cycle for free champs is annoyingly long, but Nami IS fun now that I have tried her!

I came here to recommend Syndra, shes a lot of fun. Also Viktor and Orianna are cool too. I kind of second that you should just wait for a champ you like and get a skin for them though. Lux has a really standard style mage kit you might like her.

I don't often want skins, and the skins I want I either have or aren't sold. Champs are really cheap when it comes to RP, but champs like Nami and Syndra are prohibitively expensive in IP.

On another note, how much IP does a ranked match win give?
