After hearing so many people talk of 'this assassin is OP' and 'that assassin is broken', may I ask what assassins ARE balanced and healthy? I do not mind if you mention something that is a bit controversial AS LONG AS you back up your claim... and not just with winrate numbers....

I mean Vicarship is right... the problem people really have with assassins... whether they realize it or not. Is that you need TEAMWORK to really beat them. For example, a great Zed vs a great ADC = the ADC is fucked. Your team has to work with you to stop him. Same with Rengar or many other assassins.
People complain about assassins because teamwork in solo queue sometimes... just doesn't exist. Which makes playing against them extremely frustrating.
vicarship543 votesTeamwork is only half of it. Generally lower elos are the ones who complain about assassins the most. People in lower elo only react to something as its happening, instead of taking pre-cautions before it begins.
Essentially they split push until they feed the assassin to oblivion, then they realize they arn't safe doing so, then they group with their team and by then its too late. You have to position smart from the beginning, not just when they are fed.

An average* Zed vs a great ADC
Lets be honest it doesn't take much skill at all to assassinate someone with Zed or any other assassin, unless that other person is also an assassin with kill potential on you. The skill usually comes in escaping after, except Zed ult. Zed's skill comes from managing his shadows instead. But either way his ult put you right on top of them for the button mashing frenzy.

Actually requires thought to play as and against. If you don't know what you're doing as the Shaco, you'll feed. If you don't know what to do against a shaco, you'll feed.
Very snowbally, but has weaknesses to compensate. Arguably one of the worst early game mids.
Similar to Shaco, you really can't half ass Nidalee. If you don't know how to play her, you're going to feed.
She pays a lot for that perma stealth.

is a really fair assassin IMO.
He relies on his Isolation, and needs to get his job done (kill a person) to get out (E reset)
And unless REALLY fed, he usually needs 2 Q's to kill a person, so that's that.

Sylverblitz1 votesOddly enough I would say Kassadin. That nerf to his ult range hurt a lot more than any other change even with the reduced mana cost. You're still building RoA first 99% of the time and unless you get kills early you will be stuck farming and hoping for a late game. Without that and at least one more hard AP item he isn't a big threat if the game is short. Most games finish long before he gets close to his really strong points. He can still be painful earlier and do well but no more so than a lot of other mid lane champions.

folsomdsf1 votesI'd go with kha, katarina, kassadin, shaco, nidalee are pretty good examples at the assassin role. Nidalee is frustrating for reasons that have nothing to do with the assassin play pattern. She's just too good at deuling and clearing jungle at the same time as being an assassin.
