Theorycraft a build for matchup, Renekton vs Tryndamere

Tldr: Come up with a build/set-up for renekton that'll keep tryndamere down as long as possible and post it in the comments. The goal is a viable build that stalls Tryndamere as long as possible.

Disclaimer: I don't play much Tryndamere but I know my way around Renekton ok and since there have recenter been a few more options for renekton builds I'm looking for help (more heads are always better).

In my experience as fervor Renekton winning lane is easy. I get a item 3044 phage first, then item 3047 tabis, then finish item 3071 black cleaver. From here I get item 3065 spirit visage, item 3143 randiuns omen, or one of the item 3077 tiamat items then finish whatever I didn't build yet. My final item is either item 3812 death's dance or another defensive item like item 3742 dead man's plate or item 3194 adaptive helm.

The problem is with this build-path though as soon as tryndamere picks up three items or snags some kills I start getting out-traded and start losing ground. This usually happens after the fourth full item in my build (counting boots). So this leads me to believe there's something there I can change to extend my lead in case my team needs me to hold him off of our base. Of course there are other ways to win but this is something I need help with.

The issue is Tryndamere starts to out-dps me at the point that he gets three items, this generally happens when i finish my fourth. I'm including boots as items since they can affect the matchup a lot. The way I see it there are a few ways to deal with this. They are in no particulars order, raise my dps to match his, raise my resists, or raise my burst. I think a combination of all of them would be most effective at keeping tryndamere away from towers for as long as possible.

So I'm thinking item 3047 ->item 3071 ->item 3153 ->item 3075 item 3065 item 3812 item 3143 . Those last four built depending on whatever I need most at the time.

What do you guys think about this build? Thornmail has always been slightly better on renekton compared to other champs because of the hp bonus from his ult, it also synergizes with lifesteal. It's a cheap item that stops a lot of Trynd's damage and reflects some back, I'd get it before rand unis because it's a cheaper powerspike. Death's dance helps keep you from getting bursted and the botrk active helps add to your burst. I build black cleaver since it synergizes exceptionally with renekton's kit. The tabis could be switched out for different boots depending on how the game goes. Botrk active and passives add to your dps and help you sustain through tryndamere's damage.

This other build has more dps and more of a counter to auto damage. It's weaker in terms of waveclear and burst. Your waveclear as renekton is good enough to use a rotation on minions to clear. Tiamat would help a lot here but I don't think clearing the wave is enough to stop tryndamere. You need to make him back off which I think renekton could do for much longer with this build-path than the one above. This build is still strong in teamfights but more single target oriented.

Thoughts? Got a better build? If you're tryndamere what are you building? Theorycrafting is pretty fun to me lol you can probably tell. It's something I used to see a lot on the old forums but I don't see much of it here.

Get a stoneplate and a steraks gauge and use the stoneplate just before the gauge triggers (watch it carefully). As Renekton, you might also want to pop ult just before stoneplate to multiply both the bonus health from stoneplate and the resulting bonus shield from steraks.

If you do that while fighting Tryndamere he won't be able to kill you during his ultimate even if you just stand there and spam dance.

That's a good idea! This build could work too but it means you're wasting the ad bonus from steraks because you drop damage so much with the stoneplate. Pretty inefficient but it'll probably work to survive through trynd ult. I still don't know if you'd win an all in though. Might not have enough damage to kill trynd even in midgame.

Edit: I'll try it out, though the idea is sound

you should be using it to survive tryndamere during his ult and then finish him off after.

It only lasts 4 seconds, and trynd ult lasts 5. its not like you need damage during tryndamere's ult anyway, because you can't kill him.

You ought to be able to force Tryndamere's ult as renekton without a ton of offensive gear anyway, and most Tryndamere's like to tower dive so even if you can't do that you can wait for him to screw himself.

I think the build will work until he gets a phantom dancer plus life steal. I'll try it out though, and when I do I'll post here again.
