Roles some people just do not like!

One of the absolute most annoying things in champ select is trying to explain to people that I do not perform as well in bot lane because I never enjoy playing down there, and especially I do not enjoy playing the adc role, ever for any reason.

I do not know why, I simply don't like it, the only time this season I was forced to adc I went like 7/4/14 as Graves after we stomped our lane. I did not enjoy a single minute of it, it has nothing to do with not doing well or not wanting to support, cause I like support more so then adc by A LOT, I simply do not ever have a good time with the bot lane dynamic, not even when playing it with friends.

So in champ select most the time when I'm last pick I say something like "jun/top/mid plz, don't perform well in bot lane, force me down there at your own peril," and I at least very rarely have to adc, someone almost always wants that role, and I can support just fine cause everyone is forced to do it so often, but being in that bottom lane puts me in such a bad mood usually just cause I never have a good time no matter how good we're doing.

The annoying part is when people just do not get it! Obviously everyone assumes I just mean I don't like supporting so they all decide that they'll force me to adc and think they're doing me some kind of favor without fucking paying attention to what I'm saying, but then I have to explain to them that it's my worst role cause I simply never like playing it in any circumstance as any champion in the game, and following that I typically just get flamed none stop until we get into the game and I can mute everyone. It's usually just "you don't like this role cause you're bad at it!" And unoriginal lines similar to those none stop, and I mean they can look at my profile and see I usually personally perform decently in both positions, but that would mean not liking something they like and most the people I've run into in ranked queues are too self centered and childish to be able to understand the concept of someone disagreeing with them.....

I just don't get it, why is it so freakin hard for so many people to understand that not everyone enjoys playing all the positions? I can do fine in those roles, both of them, I've carried as support quite a few times and as long as I get like one of the 3 adcs I actually bothered to buy then I can do well in that role also, but I could be going 11/0/8 or something and I will still be having a bad time, that's just how I am and that will NEVER change. I just wish more people would understand that and not try the idiotic and useless "well you won't know till you really try!" BULLSHIT cause I have many times!

/end rant

From what I read on Reddit Riot is supposed to be adding a Role Selector, and Fill position to Ranked Solo Q so players can join up by roles they wish to play or fill all roles.

I have the exact same problem in champion select which often leads to a broken meta, or a Fed bot lane unless I duo with players who properly communicate, don't auto lock and understand how to play, or play with a duo friend bottom lane.

In General in a Co-Op game or MOBA game I will always do very bad if my mate doesn't know what they are doing at all in any Co-Op game including FPS game I do better alone than with someone who I am depending on to understand how to play the game successfully which is exactly why I hate bot lane roles.

Some people are good at playing with players who do not understand how to play, I am simply not one of those people, unless we are doing a Normal, or the game is a custom game where we are training players to be better or something but how often a person actually asks for help in a game because they are new is rare because most players I know would rage, but honestly if a player tells me they are bad and stuff in champion select then I can actually try to work around that but not telling me anything auto locking a champion, or not telling me anything does not help.

So at the end its usually a report for a meta break, or for feeding.

go play team builder if you want only certain roles. The name is League of legends not Lane of legends. We all play roles we do not like suck it up.

Who cares if you do not like a role. I do not care what you like. Play with what was dealt to you and do your best and i will do the same. To say you do not like something does not even mean your bad at a role. It just means you have a preference, and i do not care to hear it.

If your bad at whats left say I am not good, but i will do my best. The difference here is notification of important information.

You miss the point entirely and honestly kind of described the ignorance I was referring to in my OP, so thanks for that I guess.

Since you completely missed everything let me re-explain it for you.... as I have already said in my OP I have played those roles in bot lane many times, especially support, and I do just fine in those roles but I do not ever like playing them and honestly each of those games feels like a complete waste of time. My ONLY GRIEF that I talked about is that it's annoying when I get flamed for saying I do not like bot lane, I still do it a lot and I still do fine most the time, but when morons flame you for specifying your preference it's just childish and irritating.

I honestly do not give a flying rat's ass if you care to hear my preferences or not, everyone in this game should be willing to listen to others when it comes to their best and worst roles and adapt. I main jungle but have given it up many times for someone who says it's their best role or they don't do as well in other lanes, that's just called being a good person, try it sometimes.

You just invalidated the team aspect of the game by ignoring your teammates role preferences. People prefer certain roles/lanes simply because they like it and therefore will most likely have more practice in the lane and be more likely to win in said position. By forcing them to a role they hate, you jeopardize your team simply because you don't care for your teammates (a big nono in a game like League).

not really

People prefer certain roles/lanes simply because they like it and therefore will most likely have more practice in the lane and be more likely to win in said position.

This is why pick order exists. Why should one player in a group have their preference over another? The answer is just follow pick order. You do not cry and say its not fun just do it.

By forcing them to a role they hate, you jeopardize your team simply because you don't care for your teammates (a big nono in a game like League).

I am not a sheep the believes this. The higher you go the less this a problem, I wonder why? I may not win my lane in my non preferred role but i can hold my own and not be a liability. No one is asking you to be faker, what they are asking you is to follow the system and do your job. You cant maybe you spiked and need to fall down.

Well, it happens.

You're going to get five people who all can't play a specific role, but someone has to. Not always the case, but it happens.

Sometimes you have to take one for the team if nobody else can.

I have a few times, that's part of playing ranked, I'm just annoyed how often people don't understand why I don't want to play adc and the ridiculous amounts of flaming I get for simply saying "I don't like it."

It's funny because i feel the same way about top lane. That lane is feast or feed and completely unpredictable and I hate it. Now most people don't like to support, but in champ select I'll say nothing and even when I'm fifth pick I'll end up top more often than I will support. It's amazing how many times I've had to play top lane in ranked when it's the most sought after lane in every normal mode.

Angry Monster1 votes

Most people that play top lane want to counter pick for an advantage in ranked. IF they do not have safe top laners that can go into blind matches they will skip the role.

Basically most top main they think they are great cause they counter pick for early advantage instead of actual even matchups.

I play Rengar, Aatrox, Sion, and Gnar top mostly, and I can win in almost any match up with them. Sure I'll pick the champ that I feel safest with against the enemy top laner, but with all three I know how to lane against and not feed my hardest counters. That's part of knowing a position.

But yes at low elo's people really just don't understand top lane, and as a top and jungle main I'm of the impression that a top laner should be able to survive on their island without much jungle help, I infact TRY to pull the enemy jungler up to my WARDED side of the map to waste their time so my team can do stuff on the dragon side. But when I jungle I try to focus more on bot and my top laners usually rage at me for it, cause they can't survive 1v1 if their match up isn't favorable or they simply never ward or watch the mini map.

I'd siggest you just call your main lane. Sayjng top/mid/jgl makes you look like one of the dipshits that just dont want to support sadly. My duoq partner is the exakt same. He hates bot, whoch is mainly why we duo because i main both bot positio s, he sometimes sups.me but not too often. Just say "pref ..." "would like to not go bottom please". Its much nicer than basically threatening them saying "send me down there at your own perik"

Vicarious1171 votes

That was an exaggeration, I don't usually say that to start, I have on occasion said that if every other position is called, just so I can communicate with my team so they don't force me into a position I'm less likely to perform well in.

And yes, I typically say "jun/top pref" and that's all, if those two spots aren't called then I say nothing more.

they don't enjoy it too and why shold they put your enjoyment before theirs when you refuse to do the same

Vicarious1171 votes

ONCE AGAIN!... I have never refused to fill one of these roles I loath to play, I have done these rales many times, as I clearly stated in my OP.

And also, AGAIN, it's not about others playing something they do not like either, AGAIN it's about when I get flamed for simply saying "I do not like playing adc."

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO FILLS THE ROLE IN THE END!

SmokingPuffin1 votes

why is it so freakin hard for so many people to understand that not everyone enjoys playing all the positions?

Because it turns out that most players agree with you. The average player doesn't want to play in the bot lane, so they're not going to be very interested in taking your spot in said lane.

Vicarious1171 votes

And yet instead of just saying they also do not like the role they typically flame me for saying I dislike it. I honestly don't give a f*ck if they do not like it either, that I can deal with, but AGAIN the issue is when people harass someone else for simply not liking a role.

I hear you. League community is sometimes like that.
