The Blue Buffs "owner."

Was just in a match where my Ahri mid was performing very poorly against a Nidalee, and I came to gank 3 times before lvl 6 and twice had Nid dead to rights if Ahri had decided to... basically do anything at all. No matter how many times I pinged she'd never actually help, and only once were her minions actually on her tower so that can't be her excuse for the other two times.

Because of this utter lack of an attempt to get back into the game, when she pinged "OMW" to the second blue I told her, "no, I'm taking this cause Skarner not only has decent mana problems but you're just going to give it up right now, Nidalee will take it from you, sorry."

She responds with "k" then walks over to the blue wall so she can burst it down, since Skarner doesn't really have any burst, so I smite it! I literally told her I was taking it, so I have no idea what she was expecting.

At that point for about 5 mins she just followed me around the jungle trying to take every little bit of farm from me and when I tried to take advantage of her immaturity and bring her to a gank on top lane she just started taking all of our Jayce's farm while the two of us killed Hecarim.

I told her at that point that since it was only a team builder and I was just playing to try out the new Skarner skin, which is awesome btw, that if she was going to deliberately hinder the game for us I'd just afk and not waste my time on her. So in response her duo Q partner Ezreal started to follow me around as well, so they were both taking all the jungle farm for no reason.

So I apologized to everyone in all chat and told them that Ahri and Ezreal were deliberately trying to ruin the game for me cause I took the blue buff, then quit the game. Did I get reported? Probably. Was it warranted? Yes, I admit that, but honestly I'd rather take a report then waste 30-40 mins of my time in a game where a duo Q was spending their time exclusively trying to ruin the whole thing for me cause I took the second blue buff from a feeding Ahri.

Moral of the story here guys, the BLUE BUFF DOESN'T BELONG TO THE MID LANER! It's up to the jungler on who gets the blue and if he doesn't give to you, especially if you're losing your lane really hard, that doesn't mean you can throw a hissy fit and ruin the entire game. To anyone who does this or think it's ok, you need to grow up and get over yourself.

Blue buff belongs to anyone who can outsmite a jungler.

The blue buff doesn't belong to anyone brah. If I can last hit it, it's mine for 3 minutes.

Wasn't it nerfed to 2 minutes?

Otherwise, 390-1000 true damage > midlaners attempting to steal.

You'd be surprised, both at how much Bronze junglers fail at smiting and at how much damage Cho'gath's ult does.

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

Lol I'm really hoping the first part is a joke if you're using cho. Ch'gath ult on a minion automatically does max level smite damage. That means that unless the jungle is level 18 they cannot out smite a cho feast and the only time cho loses is when cho is bad and jungle is good. At level 18 it is a smite face off again though.

Gengar3 votes

Doesn't it do base 1000 and (70% AP)? Which means it does more than base 1000 smite damage?

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

Lol been a while since I payed attention to cho I guess. I thought it did 1k damage to monsters and minions and didn't apply the .7 ap scaling. My bad. Ha

disregardable2 votes

I personally don't Cho, but every time I jungle with one he takes every blue after the 2nd one. Like Cho baby. I play Udyr. You're making my life hard.

Nunu's Consume plus Smite

unless I'm jungle Cho'gath... Nunu could maybe outsmite me if I don't have AP, but no midlaner is even gonna touch that blue unless I say so.

all of you NEED to understand that the jungler puts SO MUCH FAITH in the midlaner by giving her/him blue

i can give you a little of that faith, but you need to understand you're wasting some of MY exp and gold.

just think if i taxed your lane and then died to a krug

Krigjer3 votes

Buffs belong to the jungler (I'd say whoever has smite but with the current toplane meta...)

Mids truly need to stop thinking it's automatically theirs, because it's not, even if they're doing well. I personally put my faith in the jungler that if he no longer needs it, he will offer it to me. Otherwise I don't even care.

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

Why does it belong to anyone? Isn't it whoever kills the thing that it belongs to?

Some junglers seriously need their early blues to even be useful when farming the jungle, let alone ganking, and mids don't want to understand that.

For simplicities sake, it belongs to the jungler until they say otherwise.

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

I guess I can see that. Although I'm still gonna take it when it is up and I feel like it. However, that is usually only if I don't trust my jungle, or if I am doing so well I trust that I can use it to get them more of a lead than if I just let them get blue. (Ie, if I have warded and can take our blue to bully my lane opponent out and we can then go steal their blue and get a kill on enemy jungle)

Then you can also see the flip-side of a jungler refusing to give/offer blue because they don't trust the mid to not lose it immediately.

I've just played jungle before and know the frustration of a mid-laner thinking you OWE them blue when you actually still need it.

T RexHasLongLegs1 votes

Oh god yeah. Any time I am doing poorly and my jungle tries to give me blue I get confused. Don't do it man, don't do it.

If I'm playing Amumu, it's usually mine until I get Frozen Heart or the enemy blue. Amumu has some serious mana problems.

blue and every other non-teamwide buff belongs to the jungler until late game

T RexHasLongLegs2 votes

You sir are the real MVP. You made sure you had smite up to secure the buff. If you don't have smite it is a coin flip.

Also I genuinely hope your team/opponents reported ez and Ahri for trolling and getting their panties in a was that you secured the buff, and I am sincerely disappointed you did not ask for a dance off mid if they were gonna troll anyway.

Hellioning2 votes

The blue belongs for the team. The jungler is usually the person who gets to decide who gets it, but it's not like they can't be wrong. You were in the right for not giving Ahri blue (she would have just given it up anyway) but it's not the junglers either; if I'm playing Anivia or another mana hungry champ and you don't give me blue, then get mad at me for getting outpushed, then fuck you I'm gonna try to outsmite you.

Chespin20132 votes

this is the big reason i dont play teambuilder anymore people are the most toxic in this mode than any other i found

Death By Salt2 votes

Then you have ADC with red buff.. doesn't even ask for it, just takes it.

Also if they want blue so bad, they can take it from the enemy jungler... setting their jungler back and you still get your blue.

IceKingChernobog2 votes

at least majority of adcs wont bitch and moan or threaten to ruin the game like some mid laners do when they don't get blue

Blue buff belongs to the person who kills it. Its that simple. Typically its the jungler because they can move around freely. Its up to the jungler to typically give it away since most mid champs can't solo a blue early on. Later on a mid laner can take it no problem alone. Thats why i say it belongs to who ever kills it.

Sinister Snail1 votes

Jungle buffs are another resource for the team to distribute. There's a lot to consider, including champ select, individual performance, how likely you can steal their buffs, and if your mid is being an asshole.

Transgressor1 votes

Technically it belongs to nobody:

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Buff

On a sidenote I wouldn't give any sort of buffs to any laner that's severly behind the whole game. I won't risk you being an automatic Red/Blue buff delivery service for the enemy team just in the hopes you can catch up.

Ryvaku1 votes

I agree. I wouldn't give up any buffs to a feeder even if they request it. I only time I approve if I see a team member do well even if they're behind in cs, but not feeding.

Vistha Kai1 votes

I don't need your filthy blue buff. I need a good gank or at least keeping vision up and I'll get a blue from the other dude. ^_^

Abyssphere1 votes

Jungler owns it. Your Ahri was horrible. When I'm mid I always try to manage my mana so I don't expect blue. Unless I'm really struggling for mana I actively feel bad for taking it when it's offered.

It really depends on the jungler though. If my mid (or maybe support) is doing well enough then I will try to give blues away as soon as I can but I can't think of any jungler aside from Rek'Sai and Lee Sin that wouldn't need the second blue. If you expect ganks you should expect your jungler to have the first several blues, not even just the second one and certainly not just the first one.

I don't play much mid lane but I remember one time when I was playing Swain and I was having a horrible game and the jungler offered me blue buff and I just told him to take it after all I was doing so badly and I was afraid I would just give it to the enemy which would just make things worse and while yes blue buff is really good on swain... it isn't of much use if you are dead and the enemy has it...

Well I did take it later on in the game when I was doing better and laning phase had ended though

KANYE OBAMA GOD1 votes

Since I play every role, most of the time I just invade when the enemy jungle's blue is up and he's most likely taking it. Usually it's a free kill and blue buff or it's just a free blue. But if I'm not playing someone who would be good at doing that and getting out, I will ask my jungle for blues and if he says no because he still needs it then, that's just the way it is.

The Bíg Ticket1 votes

The jungler decides who gets the buffs, but if my midlaner is doing alright I don't see any reason to not give him blue even if I am playing Fiddlesticks or Vi jungle who can really make use of it. If I see our midlaner flaming though (don't care who and don't care for what reason) I won't give him the blue.

Sirsir1 votes

I once had a Xerath try to trick me into smiting blue for mana. Might've worked if he wasn't raging over losing his lane, and RIGHT THERE!

Ahurath1 votes

Blue buffs belong to the one who needs it the most and performs well enough with it to not pass it to the other team.

Eeyore1 votes

I almost wish buffs followed Smite's logic and need to be collected, rather than given to the killer (at least in the event of taking them from the jungle, not PVP-transfer). Perhaps have blue/red drop a small interactive shrine (like Thresh lantern). This solves petty laners from stealing it, but also removes some of the accidental camp taking when giving it. Maybe make it so that if smite scores the kill it takes the buff without summoning the shrine, for invasions.

Kapppaccino1 votes

If I'm riven, and my team is feeding/playing stupid ( not focusing objectives, chasing for kills into enemy jungle, being toxic,) blue buff is no longer junglers or mid laners. It's mine. Try to stop me from taking it. I can burst it down in two seconds :) ( I'll try to not do this but there's games where Id rather not have a zed or katarina with extra 10% CDR and free gold from my teammates feeding)

Slayer79781 votes

As a mid main, I hate when I'm playing jungle and my mid lane thinks the blue is theirs. Personally I don't even take it late game without asking. Even if I'm doing very well for myself.
