@Riot Tank vs. Hybrid vs. Squishy

We all know the subject, and it's usually a problem all the time. Tanks are too weak, or hybrid tanks do too much damage, or squishies who by a tank item are no longer squishy.

From what I can see, the problem is that champions who devote their entire or most of their build to tanky items aren't benefiting as much as they should, while champions who pick up one or two tank items on the side are getting all the rewards. Tankiness is being abused by non tanky champions.

#**This could be for a few reasons. **

  1. Hybrid items are too powerful. It's possible that because items like sterraks and maw are too powerful currently, damage or hybrid champions are able to itemize much more efficiently, thus having spikes or advantages that are better or faster gotten than full tank champions.

  2. There are imbalances in tank items. Certain tank items, like dead mans, are much more efficient or powerful than others. This means that tank champions will have some highly efficient items and some not, while damage champions can build efficient damage items and only the efficient tank items. Tank builds are always fairly linear and limited. CDR options are low, MR tank items are far too buffed, and items like randuins were nerfed a bit too much.

  3. Scaling is messed up. In the case of juggernauts and some other champions, they have the problem of too high base damage with ok scaling. This way, they are able to retain good damage while still building tanky items. Some of them also have abilities with % healt, % missing health, or true damage, which adds to the problem.

What do you guys think? Are these the reasons that balance has been, well imbalanced, or are their different reasons (regarding this subject, not others :P)? Any Riot employee thoughts?

I kinda believe bruiser items are too strong, 1st dead mans play was too good, now people are starting to see steraks power, and people are making full tank akali work with titanic hydra and the newly buffed sunfire cape.

It's a shame since immobile melee guys like garen or olaf need good hybrid items to be able to function but if these items are good on them they're really good on more mobile fighters with better kits like fiora.

Bruiser kits are kinda flat and they're raw stat dependency is starting to show us why it's a class flaw

And tank items like item 3068 and item 3075 deal magic damage, even if most tanks don't have magic penetration to get full benefit of them, they should deal true damage, mainly now, when item 3075 is in a sh't tier spot. It would also make item 1409 a good option again.

I would also like to see item 3222 being more of a tank option by adding a item 3067 to it for 300 HP + 10% CDR and maybe it will reach 50 MR. Also to make it posible to cast it on one self while under CC, because right now it only serves for allies.

The same could apply to item 3025, but I don't want to see Ezreal abusing that sh't even more.

I think one of the difficulties with Hybrids and true tanks is the cross over in itemization. If Juggernauts were buying most of the same items and as tanks, and doing their Job better, that would be a problem. But that crossover is going to be there for a while, so True tanks should look to have kit wise buffs, that make better use of tanky stats. Also, access to CDR is important for a tank, as a lot of their engage potential/defensive spells/etc would benefit form shorter CD. Which is why I hate how Frozen heart got beaten like a punching bag. (but hey, we still have ICB right?)

ADC's are stat dependent on AD, AS, and crit. How would a Juggernauts stat dependency be any different? Unless your claim is that Juggernaut items are Impossible to stat bind to Juggernauts.

Well we have tanky "bruiser" Fiora, which is possible thanks to her %HP insane ratios on her ult and the fact that item 3748 deals damage from % health, so she just builds tanky and deals insane damage anyways.
