Why I Like The New Ranked System.

  • Platinum level support player.
  • Upper Silver/Low Gold level ADC player.
  • Low silver level Assassin player.

If I want to play anything but support, in a platinum queue, I am robbing my teammates of someone who could actually perform at their level. While I can support like a boss - I am garbage as an assassin.

So, either I rob my team of a good player in that role, or I only ever play Support.

This system allows me to perform as well as I can in any role, and be pit against players I can actually compete against - without just screwing over my team because I want to play a role I am not good at.

I agree. I can play Mid and Jungle at a low Gold level but my top is prolly Silver 5, Ad and support around silver 3.

I don't like it because it keeps you from playing with your friends unless you play that specific role, and it keeps people who enjoy the same role to not play ranked together if they suffer such a rank gap

This is true, however, think about it. If you say get autofilled into a Silver V spot as a Diamond V player, then you will have that game knowledge from diamond elo and still probably shit on everyone you play against, even if it isnt the same role or champion.

Another thing is that people like to beg for a role switch in champ select all the time, and this is nothing riot can do about. Anyway, if a Diamond V midlaner gets autofilled to his Silver V support role but manages to switch with the midlaner so he can have it, then it's gg from there. No point in even trying anymore.

Lastly, if i want to main 2 or more roles, then it will take twice as many games and twice as much time to get myself up to the same elo for both of my main roles, which is a lot of time wasted tbh.

I do think this is an interesting idea and that they should have like a beta thing during pre season 9 but idk if itll get through to S9

I may be better at mid than jungle/top, and significantly better than at ADC/support (although I mained ADC for 2 seasons with great win rates, and autofill support reasonably.

I occasionally feel like I let my team down in my off roles, but feel that way far less often than the number of games I lose when I was dominating my Lane in my main role - so I often don't feel too bad about it.

That said, with this new system idk what I'm going to do. I'd want to play some variety, or at least get a chance to switch main roles mid season in case my mains get nerfed or the meta changes too much for me. I don't play enough games to have a reasonably fast climb, now I'm picturing doubling or tripling that length of time if I play 2 or 3 roles regularly. There was mention of fewer divisions per tier to make up for more tiers, and bonuses after wins in off role games, but it just sounds like it's going to be a much longer grind of a climb. I think macro skills are transferable enough that there shouldn't be more than a one division difference between roles.

I'd be more willing to consider an off-role adjustment, that puts you in a different Elo for your filled games, but the current direction seems off.

It is just creating issue of smurfing V2. Now you won't need a second account to stomp lower elos you don't belong to. It will happen by default everyone you play off role or get filled. It will also help elo boosters because many elo boosts are doing duo boosts. So they will just queue with people as off role and switch to carry role.

And a whole idea of different rank per role is dumb. It would work only if everyone played each role. That's not the thing. Most people get to the division they got by playing 2 roles at best (usually one). The system won't give any sense of accomplishment for multi role players. It will just cause confusion and force you to climb on off roles too because well now you have 5 different queues basically to climb in. The only upside would be to see those Janna mains in diamond, being bronze 5 hard stuck in other roles.
