I feel like, numbers wise, Taric is a bit weak after the rework

Passive: With the increased base damage, Taric can still put up a fight, but there are still problems. Pre rework, it would reduce his cooldowns by a total of 2 seconds, which made it so that chaining your abilities let you spam like a motherfucker. With the rework, cooldown reduction now decreases the value he gets from passive hits, so it is much less valuable.

Q: This thing got gutted. Before, it could have been used to either restore 220 (+30% AP) (+5% Tarics bonus HP) to him and an ally, or restore 308 (+42% AP) (+7% bonus HP) to himself. 100 mana, 14 second cooldown. With the rework, the most he can heal for (3 charges) is 180 (+60% AP)(+4.5% bonus HP). 140 mana, and it takes 45 seconds to get 3 charges. Granted, his passive reduces the cooldown of this much more than other abilities, but most of the time, you use this to proc your passive and get your other spells off cooldown. Most of the time, you will be healing for 60 (+20% AP) (+1.5% bonus HP). While you could argue that it is stronger for being in an AOE, all heal targets need to stand within a tiny radius of either you or your bastion buddy, rendering them vulnerable if your ult is not on them right then.

W: This is a pretty decent spell, but I will miss Shatter. One thing I will say; since you are mostly shielding your ADC, having the shield be based off of THEIR max HP basically means that the shield will always be worthless on them.

E: A good spell.

R: Potentially powerful, but weak in practice. The delay makes it so that you are pretty much never going to block any major damage spells with this, with the exception of heavily delayed spells. This will just barely block a Karthus ult. Think about it for a second; if Kayle or Zilean had a delay on their ults or if Fizz/Yi had to do a frontflip before their "untargetable" spells came into effect. Those ults would be utter shit. Invulns are only really used in two ways in most situations; reactively to negate a large amount of damage/bait, or as a part of your combo, like Kennen (I know, technically a stasis. Sue me). Because of the delay, you can't really use it.

On a side note, the actual invulnerability feels really anticlimactic. A STAR FALLS FROM THE SKY, ITS HEAVENLY GLOW SETS THE BATTLEFIELD ALIGHT.... and then you turn blue and nothing happens for 2.5 seconds, because the enemy is not dumb enough to stand and fight you while you are invulnerable. This needs to FEEL impactful. There needs to be some real reason to put extra points into this shit.

Recommendations P: CDR no longer effects the time shaved off. You can reduce the base time slightly if you must. Q: Targeting either yourself or your bastion buddy while casting this will cause the AOE of the heal to be removed, but will double the healing. W: Shield is based on Tarics max HP. E: Unchanged R: Lower the delay, make the duration scale with rank.

Sincerely, a gem enthusiast

Taric is good, takes 2 basic attacks to reset his CDR on Q, so u can spam his Q at one stack which is not too bad makes the other abilities cool down go down real fast. Tried him out only 1 game and he seems really good, if not too good.

You can, technically, combine your skills

EaaQaaWaaQaaEaaWaaQaa and so on

So that you get a constant stream of passive procs.

That is pretty much the only thing his Q is good for.

Unfortunatley, this combo will cost 400 mana per rotation, each of which takes about 3.5 seconds.

A level 18 Taric with Frozen Mallet and Frozen heart will have 2425. Not factoring in his mana regeneration, he will be able to throw out spells for just about 21 seconds (6 rotations) before running completely out of mana. This is WITHOUT using his ultimate at any point.

I disagree with the q and partially with w.

With q its a simple as stating the case study of soraka. Targeted heals are hard to prevent and are annoying to deal with. we don't need a second raka even if this ability was inferior to raka's. I'd say increase the range of the aoe and strength of the heal but have it reduced based on how far you are from taric. Those who stay close to him get the full heals while those far from him get a token heal at best.

As for the w I'm conflicted. On the one hand your right a %health shield is worthless to anyone not building health, but on the other hand if taric is building tank and it scaled solely on his health the shield would be massive especially if he invests in it. I'd say compromise. make the shield scale of taric but the reduce the scaling for his allies.

The heal is still a targeted spell once you have your W, it just has the potential to hit more people.

As things stand, the heal on his Q is less valuable than the autoattack reset you get because of your passive.

Paying 140 mana for 60 HP is just dumb, and paying that much for 180 HP is not much better.

His Q is only even decent because of his passive. His W shield is horrid on non tanks, the ability bonding is great with good teammates but infuriating with bad ones. His ult feels really unimpactful.

The only things keeping him afloat are his E (and its synnergy with W) and his passive.

For the record, I agree with you on the fact that his numbers are on the weak side. His ult is nice on paper but less then useful in practice.

My issue with his q is that it is both a self heal and a heal for his teammate. If it was something like Nidalee 's then the huge mana cost for the low heal is a problem, but the fact that it can hit multiple targets makes the higher cost justified somewhat. It already better thenAlistar 's heal as it is.

As for his w, i get that it is worthless on non tanks, but that also makes the inverse true. Its awesome on tanks. The shield is strong enough during the early laning phase as it can make a difference in trades but during the mid/late game the squishes should be in the back row behind taric and his shield shouldn't save them from being in a bad position. Slap it on a Maokai, Garen, or Nautilus and watch that beefcake go in and soak tons of damage for the team.

So in conclusion, I feel the w is fine as is, q needs a minor buff and ult needs a shorter casting time.

I am baffled by the downvotes on this. It's a reasonable and well thought out post. People don't bother reading before downvoting.

I don't know if weak is the right word but I agree with your points on his Q and W active. The shield scaling off of the targets health makes it nonsensical since squishy allies who actually need said shield will be getting less effective health out of it than tanks (??).

His Q is astronomically worse due to the nature of soloqueue. I don't know about coordinated environments though since you typically don't want to bunch up at high levels of play. I feel like the new heal should encourage aggressive play in conjunction with Bastion which it currently does not.

The passive feels alright I guess. The ult delay being so large, shifts it into the aggressive category since it's a lot more reliable for tower dives / advantageous engages than it is casted defensively (anyone with decent burst will net a kill before the ult comes into effect).

For me I play taric in the jungle and he is fine but support or top is a problem for me buffing his base numbers on his q would be good, how ever his w should be based on taric's numbers and not the targets. And his ult just lower the cool down.
