If the old Riot saw Zed they would be disgusted.

I remember back when Riot actually had a champion power budget and gave champions reasonable weaknesses.

Take Leblanc for example.

Back when she was released she was so overpowered she had a 100 percent ban rate at all elo's and was so bad they had to hotfix her hours after her release and even then she was still pretty much banned all the time.

BUT!

She had a very very clear weakness and that was her laning phase was a struggle for her as in she had difficulty last hitting and clearing waves if they were shoved into her face. Riot very clearly made an obvious weakness that was exploitable. She struggled really hard against teams that focused on keeping their carry safe and if she did poor early game then she did poor all game. if she wanted to farm she had to use her W to help her clear waves and if she was doing that she wasn't harassing and she was using her resource so she couldn't keep doing it AND harassing she had to choose.

Along comes Zed

Riot back then had clear goals and it was clear strengths and weaknesses but Zed has no clear weaknesses and alot of strengths and alot of things going for him.

I mean he has one of the safest laning phases in the game and great wave clear and an excellent level 6 power spike and on top of that he gets free bonus AD just from putting points into his W and ON TOP OF THAT his W if it hits an enemy champion restores energy. Lets add to it he has one of the longest ranged non global dashes in his ability to dash back to his ulti no matter the range.

Seriously Riot i have watched this game come a long way and i have a love hate relationship with it but if there is one thing that i absolutely cannot stand its your stance on Zed and how you think he is healthy because the old you would look at Zed and they would turn away in disgust because Zed goes against literally everything you have ever Zed about balance and yet you sit here and endorse it as okay.

Sivir 90% dodge MasterYi AP yi dunkmaster yi before he got nerf and becasue ap yi (yes hes at his weakest he's ever ever been right now) Fiddlesticks random blind chance including turrets TwistedFate Pantheon and many other globals Twitch long ass stealth Evelynn point n click stun, no indicator, she appeared and 1 shotted you like rengo but she didnt have his ult cd to compensate Rengar old rengar the mejai like assassin Khazix pre nerfs khazix pre nerfs kassadin (he even stole mana at one point) Nasus dem ratios Soraka solo lane soraka Urgot Taric bot lane of doom and many many more

league as never been truly balanced, deal with it

Zed does have clear weaknesses, whenever he's trying to team fight and he's not fed, (what isn't too strong or OP when fed) zhonyas, qss, exhaust, no inherent sustain in lane, has to be built and only works on melee autos, (prone to being poked/cc'd/etc) he has to blow 'w' to effectively wave clear, in lane wqe costs a hefty amount of energy, (while q does until its ranked up, same with 'w') throws away a dash while also not having the majority of his burst come out in a small amount of time- old rengar, fizz, talon, etc.

Is he overtuned? I'm not arguing that he's right where he needs to be, too weak or too strong right now, but he does have a 'healthy' design. He can wave clear so he doesn't fall into the "kill enemy & zone them out in lane or you can't wave clear" problem, he can 1v1 even if he isn't the strongest, he has outplay for himself and the opponent even if it's not always used while better more consistent players can more consistently give good results but not 100% due to the nature of outplay, prediction, mind games and chance. Zed's a good design, what are you going to say, Udyr, Master Yi or tanks that run at you then you die or live basically based on stats alone with little to no mechanical skill is good design? That far ranged Lux is a better design because if you can catch her she tends to die?

The idea that assassins should only be good at all-ins and bad at cs/waveclear is a silly idea

You could have talked about Fizz and his untarget ability being on a tremendously short cooldown given how powerful that is but instead you talk about this

I feel like you've got some rose-tinted lenses on. After all, the old Riot implemented dodge. The old Riot released Xin Zhao in what has become a cautionary tale. The old Riot came up with release Twisted Fate.
