Why does Zed have an "Ok, I am done, I am out" button?

Raoul··11 votes·1,217 views

Seriously, I have no problem with Assassins who can do their job, I am fine with Akali, Rengar, Kha Zix, Diana, Talon, Katarina, Shaco, and even Yasuo, because even though they can delete their target in less that one second, after doing so, they are pretty much sitting ducks, behind enemy lines, all skills just blown to get a kill, (ok, Kha Zix gets a reset, but his jump has counterplay) and without a super skilled player or the help of their teams, they are dead.

Like Assassins should be.

And then there is Zed, who can deal the same insane "delete a squishy" damage, but after hes done, he just presses R again and goes behind the save line of his own team, laughing as he can now fight in a 5v4. Who the hell thought that was was good idea? Who the hell saw "ok, an assassin with the normal insane assassin damage, save poke AND a safe exist after assassination? Sounds AWESOME!"

Just remove the freaking "get out of all trouble" part from his Ultimate already!

Because unlike the other assassins, Zed's can be more easily prevented or stopped. Unlike most others you mentioned, Ed has much more telegraphs, and his assassination pattern is delayed, which allows multiple ways to stop it

Actually Zed is easily the most difficult assassin to peel. Try defending an Ashe from a Zed and you will see.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

What I mean by that is his whole way of assassinating someone is preventable to a much higher degree then someone like Talon or Diana. Zed's ult is one of the few assassin ults that can be completely negated, despite landing on the target.

Then you compare him to Katarina and he's just obviously overpowered. No kill requirement and infinitely less counterplay.

Once again, no.

Zed is the most difficult assassin to peel, even compared to slippery targets like Fizz or Evelynn, he is infinitely harder to keep away from say, an Ashe.... then factor in that Zed has two very easy and reliable escape mechanisms AND is manaless; Zed needs nerfs.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

And again: Zed's method of assassination can be easily stopped at nearly all levels of its happening by a much higher degree then any other assassin out there. He is very telegraphed, can easily be stopped when he reappears from his ult, and his ult itself can be completely negated.

He is not overpowered, nor is he underpowered. Could he synergies a bt too well with thunderlords? Maybe. But that's not a problem with Zed

Dominick Destine1 votes

Zed is the most difficult assassin to peel off of an Ashe.

He is manaless.

Has multiple escape mecahisms.

Requires zero skill to land his abilities since they are basic lock-on with his shadows.

So tell me again how he is not overpowered compared to ... let's say Evelynn or even dare I say, Fizz, who are both easier to peel and have mana requirements.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

You know who else is difficult to peel for Ashe? Literally anyone with a gap closer.

Fizz and Eve will only have mana problems in the early game, after that they will either have regen (for Fizz), or they won't have as much of a restriction (eve)

Zed's main means of poke is a skill shot, the other is around him. You can easily dodge the shurikins, and staying outside of "next to him" will dodge the spin.

Fizz has multiple escape mechanisms, as well as untargetabity, no unit collision, and less damage from AA

Hate to sound like a complete jackass, but stop complaining about Zed and just, well, get good!

False, characters like, say Xin Zhao, Pantheon, Shyvana, Jax and a myriad of others, can be peeled... with effort of course, but it can be done somewhat reliably... this is in stark contrast to Zed who gets in and out significantly more easily.

Even Fizz/Evelynn are easier to peel than Zed.

Fizz and Eve will only have mana problems in the early game, after that they will either have regen (for Fizz), or they won't have as much of a restriction (eve)

What's your point? manaless > mana

Fizz has multiple escape mechanisms, as well as untargetabity, no unit collision, and less damage from AA

And he's still not as difficult to peel, to get in/out than Zed.

Hate to sound like a complete jackass, but stop complaining about Zed and just, well, get good!

"Get good"? Do we really have to do this? I don't want to pull rank but even without checking, I can already tell you are lower bracket than I am.

Edit: LEVEL 29?! you can't be serious...you talk trash and you aren't even ranked?

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

First: why the hell does it say I'm level 29? I'm not.

And second: the fact that I'm unranked and have absolutely no problems dealing with Zed (and I'm unranked because I don't want to play it btw), what does that say about you?

And finally: I broke down each and every one of your points. Fizz and Eve don't care about mana at all from mid to late, just as Zed doesn't care about hai resource from early to mid.

If you have don't have a problem dealing with someone as slippery as Fizz, or even someone who is nearly always invisible (also, why are we even talking about Eve? It's not like she can sneak up on you much after landing phase), you should definitely not have a problem with dealing with Zed

Dominick Destine1 votes

And second: the fact that I'm unranked

That's all that needs to be said; Normal games are just for fooling around and trying new builds. They are not on the level of ranked matches where people are actually playing to win.

And finally: I broke down each and every one of your points.

Your "points" were flimsy and easily refuted.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

Really? How were they refuted? By stating the same things I had already addressed?

Zed is made to be an early game assassin because late game his whole purpose can be shut down so easily: killing someone. Other assassins have a weaker early game because of how strong or unavoidable/unstoppable they are late game

Nearly 100% of the time, normal games are going to be the same as ranked games, just without ranking attached to them. People are still going to be trying to win, people are still going to play their best champs, people are still going to be doing the build that works the best, so using that as an excuse does not work at all.

You sound like the unranked in this arguement. Holy reading this is tilting me.

If you learn his ult timing it is pretty easy. And usually the ADC is the worst person to try and argue about considering the are also the squishiest.

Kãtãrinã4 votes

you forgot katarina getting a kill she can shunpo back out. Also the zed ult can just be hourglasses or QSSed if all needs be. secondly if zed is CCed he can not ultimate back.

Well what else are you gonna do? Sit there and die then go whine about it?

Kãtãrinã2 votes

i mean i am level 5 on him and that is a general way to stop the escape. how do you stop kha'zix with evolped leap after a kill, katarina, trist? you cc them. cause then they cant disengage with the long range hops. Lol the only thing zed has over them is his escape doesn't require a kill and will usually peace out as soon as he sees deathmark can kill, which is when you either heal/shield or QSS/hourglass to deny him.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

He always reappears in the same position (behind you) after a set delay.

If you can't hit a skillshot on a target 1 inch from you when you know exactly where and when they will appear, then you have bigger issues.

Raoul1 votes

On top of that, Zed doesnt even really NEED his ultimate to proc, its only the finishing touch. his base abilities ahve insane damage and ratios, and his passive sheds freaking 10% of max HP!

His Ultimate is just to assure that if somehow the target managed to survive your burst + ignite, you still kill it, unless you force them to sacrifice an item slot just for you.

DeathBurst3 votes

Lol, Zhonya or QSS != sacrifice an item slot...

Spicy Rice3 votes

He's allowed it because of all the counterplay his ult has. Compared to all the assassins you listed, zed is the one with the highest chance of his damage not coming through

AL0002 votes

zed is not really assassin...

he is more like ad mage...

Shiyo Kozuki2 votes

Why was this downvoted? It's absolutely true. There's no reason that zed's ult should blink him to his target.

The Sword Saint2 votes

Ok, the reason he has an escape button on hid ult is because his ult damage has a delay on it. If you want to make him more like every other assassin for some reason, you have to make his ult instead deal all of it's damage up front.

The boards have been crying about Zed for a while now. People need to build and prepare for Zed's attack. You just perfectly described assassins in the game and described exactly what Zed does.. if you can't counter it with you knowledge you just demonstrated by writing this post then maybe this isn't the game for you. Zed's ult can be canceled by building two different items and he can be CC'd once he is done traveling to the target. Zed is gonna punish squishies for poor positioning. That's what Zed does, kill and get out. Bait the ultimate and you have about a minute to work with.

Ðezi1 votes

i know im some new%%%, but seriously just play zed and learn yourself his kit and whats annoying to him and then pick it to counter him

Wild Wes1 votes

zed mains be like "wtf is this guy doing trying to expose how we climb elo!?"

Critmaster Garen1 votes

pretty sure most assassins can do the same.

Katarina gets resets and can shunpo out of the fight to an ally. talon goes in with q, e, w, r and walks out while invisible. akali goes in, assassinates a target, then throws down her cloud to buy time or jumps to the next target. kz gets a reset on his jump and leaps back out...

Zed just needs his R nerfed. It is STUPID that once he hits lvl 6 you have to back else he shadows under turret hits R>E>Q>R and the target dies and he is back in lane WELL out of the turrets range.

Hexten1 votes

Zed is awful in grouped fights because of how much more easier it is to stop his damage compared to other assassins. Countless times I had an ally Zed get fed in lane but then completely falls off in teamfights. He cannot split-push that well since they nerfed his attack speed gains per level, so he doesn't have a good fallback from there as well.
