Kindred's E Should've Been An Execute
Like, for real. Her entire kit leads up to it and then... :faceplant:. They either get lucky running away, someone misplays by stepping out of their ult first, or they get outbursted by less clunkier/more tankier opponents in the end. Can't these guys finish off their prey despite apparently having hunted since the dawn of time? Allow me to better explain where i'm coming from -
Kindred's passive and Wolf steroid are very front-loaded i.e. good vs tanks/shredding them low without needing crit using only total ad ratios (despite them being dirt they're necessary as Kindred's entire kit is physical damage so needs to build more armor pen to remain effective than pure AD which would be easily mitigated by any sort of armor - it's not like they're Vayne or Kog, who can still deal consistent max HP% damage even when enemy is low i.e. Kindred's passive drops off when enemy is near-death due to it being based on current HP% and even requiring a riskier play pattern to obtain - see where this is going?).
The ult is great for stalling a losing matchup, but considering you're going to be a fragile ADC who needs to invade frequently after globally announcing your plans or force ganks to make your passive even remotely useful late, you're going to need to use it** a lot** despite it being better in teamfights/skirmishes. I mean lets face it, in a 1v1 vs an enemy jg, like say
, who can just Q2 Kindred in the face after their ult fades or if kicked out of it, it feels quite anti-climactic with that double-edged ult heavily favoring anyone remotely tankier than Lamb (since they will have more effective HP at 10% HP via maxHP/resistances/abilities and Lamb can't heal herself if forced to use it at that point) and who are capable of finishing the Kindred off since they lack an adequate means to. Yes, betting on range doesn't count either since there are more adept champions even in that regard (
). Although now I think about it, the champion they now remind me of more than
or
is
. But she's a hybrid and doesn't fall off as hard if she gets behind. Which makes Kindred's ult seem more like a band-aid as well as the main unique aspect to her kit (hence the lack of scaling) to cover up her weak dueling and mini-game-reliant dps. Thematically and mechanically a blend of pre-existing champions which just falls short if it wasn't for that darn E which just takes it too far imo by opting for a basic 3-hit attack on a redonkulous cooldown.
Therefore, E is the only mechanical change I would make to Kindred's kit. Sure they could buff Kindred's base AD as well as MS from 325 -> 335 to match their 500 range and roaming focus, whilst granting W vision considering it's a zoning tool doubled as their only means of poke and sole steroid on a massive cooldown. Q also could use some tuning to avoid it feeling so clunky, maybe allow it to reset-autos or have it gated by ramping mana-consumption like Kass's ult instead of needing to blow W.
E is still the only thing that fundamentally feels.. lame, and very derivative (probably an understatement). No one really cares for another 3-hit type ability, especially when the third hit replaces the auto entirely wasting precious on-hits and already limited crit potential - why not just make it a separate spell then? Rather it just send Wolf in for the kill, taking a chunk out of the enemy, slowing them and dealing missing HP damage. So if used early it's a simple low-damaging decaying slow put on a large cooldown; but used as a last hit it's a massive execute like an Evolved
Q. If it kills them, it refunds cooldown/mana. Simple.
Other than the above, her design is amazing imo. With the W, R and Passive fitting thematically and role-wise, with great voicework, visual aesthetics and the makings for a great story. Definitely looking forward to their release.
TL;DR - Change E to deal missing instead of maximum HP% damage and reduce it's subsequent cooldown plox based Rito.
