You know what I find really funny about the rise of Hecarim top? Back when Final Boss Veigar came out, someone commented on the post announcing the skin that Top was now the only role without an arcade-type skin. Someone replied saying that Hecarim was good against the right champs top. That comment was downvoted to oblivion. Someone then replied with "Hecarim belongs in the jungle..." that comment was upvoted to almost 100 if not more. Now, here we are, almost halfway through season 5 and Hecarim is played almost exclusively top in both LCS and ranked. I can't help but think how that person must feel knowing that his downvoted comment would become the truth.

A month before Maokai became meta top, I saw Oddone get super salty about a lane Maokai and saying that Maokai is a jungler and laning him is a troll pick.

In fairness Maokai got some rather large changes that made him more suited to laning.

He was always suited to laning actually, I had been playing him top for 5 months to great effect before they changed him around. The difference is that he also relied on a little more cheese (like sapling death brush attacks and using W as someone uses flash to still get to them).

Hec top is pretty much only good in the LCS, with a coordinated team. Otherwise, he tends to shove the lane and leaves himself very open.

You can run TP ignite and be okay. Also he is a really strong and oppressive lane bully, so you should be able to get kills early or deny the other top laner. And not everything is about pushing, and can freeze the lane just as anyone else. Also he still does have E, which is just as good as Ghost and can get him out of sticky situations, which sometimes flash isn't the best at.

Guy suggests hecarim top, a bunch of sheep downvote him because herpAderp Hecarim Top wasn't played top in the LCS at that time. (The actual post is hidden because it was downvoted so much LOL!)

Just goes to show that if you find something new that works for you don't listen to the clueless sheep in the community who tell you otherwise keep doing it until you find out whats wrong with it yourself. Most of negative people on these boards don't know anything and just copy LCS and think they are pro because they watch LCS streams but can't think for themselves.

Well lets give this some context though. Back when FBV came out the jungle was much easier, hecarim could destroy the jungle and ganks were everywhere. I could gank right after blue, then go back into the jungle then gank twice at lv 3 and then gank again at lv 4. Back in that day he was far more effective as a jungler. Now with the new jungle, there isnt much of a difference in his utility between being a jungler and top laner. Nobody back then knew the jungle was changing to be 100x more unforgiving. So instead of vindicating the person who said he should top land while condemning those who said he belongs in the jungle is very unjustified at this time since the jungle is extremely different now. If the jungle had remained similar to how it used to be, im pretty sure hecarim would have seen more play in the jungle with the buffs he received since then.

Also when people say someone "belongs" somewhere doesnt mean that they only have to be played there. Its just where that champion will have the most success.

I'm not condemning those who say he belongs in the jungle. Hec is still good in the jungle. I'm just stating that someone said a champ was good in a certain position, everyone laughed at him, downvoted and said he belongs in this position and now we're seeing that exact champ in that exact position quite often now. I'm just saying that people shouldn't bandwagon and condemn someone for liking an ,at the time, uncommon pick.

Back when adc were running barrier, i saw one take heal and our mid was like "wtf heal in ranked???". But it became the truth. Not because that person was ahead of the curve, but because the game changed. Such is patches.

(On the other hand, I was taking shit for taking Nautilus support just days before Lemon did it, with no real changes to it).
