No matter how you look at it, Swain and Anivia got screwed the hardest by the mana regen nerfs...

(whoa that was trippy, what's going on with the forums?)

These are two AP's where mana management persisted PAST level 6 unlike everyone else who no longer remembers what mana even is after a Chalice.

Yet with these two champions would often need more than just a Chalice to truly function to the best of their ability, and even then they can blow through them quite fast even if you play carefully.

Anivia is even WORSE off than Swain in that while they both consume a butt ton of mana, Anivia isn't even a death fetishist like Swain who is revitalized by seeing people die in front of him for a Passive. No, Anivia has the "bait people into towerdiving you" Passive.

Yeah, it's pretty bad, and you're almost forced into expending mana because you're almost always against an assassin in this meta, or a low mana cost mage, and you're just trying to survive their easy harass and it's frustrating, because to use your ult effectively, you need two mana items usually, and that sets you back for a long time.

Does Swain actually build mana regen? IIRC, most Swain players typically just built a Rod of Ages for mana and used their passive for mana sustain. The fact that his passive now restores 9% of his maximum mana should be enough for most teamfights with a Rod of Ages.

Anivia, IIRC, typically built two mana/mana-regen items--typically some combination of Seraph's Embrace, Athene's Unholy Grail, and Rod of Ages--so not too much has really changed on that front. Since Athene's Unholy Grail now scales with maximum mana, she shouldn't be too affected since she usually had Rod of Ages or Seraph's Embrace in addition to Athene's Unholy Grail anyways.

Great for laning. And for burst comps where your entire team is built around catching someone out and bursting them down asap.

But in random teams or if you aren't sure if you and your team can find an assured kill? Or against an enemy team who can tough it out just as well as you can? A single RoA won't always cover his ass even if he uses his spells conservatively. Atleast not to the point where he seriously compromises his overall effectiveness.

A Catalyst -> RoA build is great for his laning phase. But he along with Anivia are literally the only champions in the game where mana is a thing past the laning phase. Riot's mana regen nerf sought to make mana a thing for ALL mages past laning phase...without taking into account the two champions where it already was a thing.

The real issue with Anivia and Swain are how oppressive they can become with little skill required past the early game.

Swain, maybe since you just use ult.

Anivia? noo. Positioning on anivia is super important. You cant just R-E anyone you want, because you die easily, even with your ROA,Zhonyas, MR or whatever else you have.

Swain just need item 3027 and he's ok. However, I noticed this problem with Anivia yesterday. I builded item 3174 and + blue buff and I went still oom very easily.
