Why Am I Losing LP For This?

Why the hell should I lose LP for this game? I did literally nothing wrong. This is no exaggeration. Volibear dc'd shortly into the game (~7 mins). Nasus continued to die to yas until he was 0-6 (no bd tbh, happens to the best of us). The real kicker was when caitlyn said "gg, afk" and then just left. The other two, nami and nasus, proceeded to do literally nothing and open mid. I was the ONLY ONE trying to do ANYTHING. Yet I lose 20 LP purely because of others ' bullshit. Come on Riot. When the are you going to come up with a meaningful solution to games like this?

You lose LP in that scenario for the same reason you gain LP when the reverse scenario occurs, which it statistically does even if they're not as memorable as the occasions when you're helpless.

Why should anyone lose LP in this type of situation? Just because it can happen to anyone doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Well the remake feature is coming sometime this patch, which will help deal with afks from the start of the match.

It's tricky to have fair scenarios that aren't abusable in other circumstances unfortunately. Keep in mind the members of the other team too, so they wouldn't want to feel cheated because they went through a whole match only to find it didn't count (even if it was 5v4 or worse), so you can't just null matches if people afk after first blood or whatever. Similarly, if you gave them their LP, then it wouldn't be fair to let you keep yours despite losing, since in the long term that'd mean people would just trend upwards even if their skill remained constant.

If you think you can come up with a non-abusable system that'd remove frustration (and also wouldn't inflate the system with excess LP/MMR) then I'm sure riot would be happy to embrace it, but lots of smart people have put lots of thought into this sort of thing, and the vast majority of suggestions are prone to abuse or otherwise impractical upon further inspection.
