Mechanically Boring On The Uprise. Riot, please?

My interest in League is petering out. Great way to start it off, isn't it? Well, the thing is, League's mechanics are becoming quite stale recently. A lot of champions don't have unique mechanics, and the ones that do have their entire kit suffer from being overly gimmicky. (Looking at you Bard and Azir)

We need something that mixes up the roles a bit. Adds something fresh. Nothing too gimmicky, but something new.

To be honest, I think the problem is that there are only so many simple mechanics that actually work in the game (without being terribly unfun). So to create totally novel mechanics, you sort of have to make something off-the-wall like Azir or Bard. They certainly should continue to invent new twists on old ideas, but ultimately I think most of the new stuff will have some reasonably close comparison in the old stuff.
