Back when league was cool and had "events" that were dynamic in game lore interactions instead of the "events" we have now that are excuses to milk the cash cows. Yes I know that you can still do the old events, but when was the last time they added a new one?
Technically, the Ninja debuff did do something - -1 max HP per ninja on your team. (So Shen and Akali would both lose 1hp if they were allied, A ninja works best alone.)
I know Cait + Jinx still have an interaction but Camille doesnt have one with anything and Rengar + K6 still have The Hunt is On! plus the Freljord sisters. Oddly, Rakan and Xayah only have voice lines for when theyre on opposing teams and no easter egg (de)buffs, Taliyah gets nothing for being allied with Yasuo or enemy Azir and Neeko doesn't get a bonus for having a Nidalee on either team despite her raging lizbian boner
