So sick of the "CertainlyT sucks at champion design" bandwagon.

I already expect this to be downvoted.

I get it. A fed Yasuo is a nightmare to play against. So is a fed Zoe. They both do a lot of damage, and they both have mechanics in their kits that feel impossible to counter when they're ahead.

But that has NOTHING, and I do mean NOTHING to do with their designs as champions.

Yasuo is designed to feel like fighting the wind, he is a master samurai that dashes everywhere, he's very fast, he is hard to aim at, and he can deflect projectiles with a swing of his mighty blade. Zoe is designed to feel like a jolly child that carries the power of a god that comes and goes as she pleases, smiting people down on childish whim from a range where they feel helpless to even reach her.

Are they balanced? Most would say no. But do they achieve their design? Yes, you better fucking believe they do.

CertainlyT's champions may not be balanced, but as far as champion design goes, they certainly are fun, innovative, and thematically coherent.

Other champions designed by CertainlyT also show great and unique thematic coherency.

Darius is designed to be a powerful Noxian commander that feels like an unstoppable monster in the battlefield, cleaving through any enemies in his path. Thresh is designed to be this ghoulish keeper that gathers and collects souls. He spells death to all that he hooks and flays with his deadly sickle and chain. Zyra is designed to be the allure and wrath of nature, she ensnares her prey with deadly vines and spreads her plants wherever she geos. Kalista is designed to be this vengeful wisp of a spearwoman that moves with terrifyingly unnatural agility. She rends the souls of her victims with the weight of her wrath and their sins.

These champions' kits certainly reflect their themes very well, and that's the mark of good champion design.

TLDR: CertainlyT's champions might not be well-balanced, but design-wise they are great. Stop saying he sucks at champion design.

he does though. When his champions are a nightmare to balance extremely op or broken and extremely unfun to play against. Its an issue. Its every champion.

CT's champions might be fun, innovative, and thematically coherent, but if it creates frustrating interactions, overloaded and sometimes broken kits, then it's an issue. His Champions might be fun to play, but it's frustrating to play against. You don't need some bonkers abilities to give a champion thematical identity.

You can't call it a bandwagon if it is completely true. His champions almost single handedly ruined the game for many people, myself included.

Well, we're probably going to get downvoted for this, but I wholeheartedly agree.

Thematics are only one part of design lol. You can't just ignore the actual gameplay and say it's well designed. CertainlyT's M.O. is designing champs that are very fun to play at the expense of being absolutely miserable to play against. The problem with this is that only one person gets to play the champ while 5 have to play against it. This leads to his designs being universally despised. This means they are not good designs for the most part. Making 5 people miserable so one can have fun is a trash design

So sick of the CerT apologists and denialists.

I don't care what other people say tbh, I find Yasuo to be one of if not the most enjoyable champion to play in the game. Feels smooth as hell, high skill ceiling, and high outplay potential.

There, I said it. Now downvote me yasuo haters :)

Not going to downvote you, but Yasuo doesn't belong in League. He has so much more agency than other characters, it's just really unfair for characters who don't have as much freedom as he does. It's way too easy for him to out-play people mechanically because his kit is just so spammable.

To be honest, CertainlyT's creations are not bad.

I don't even mind Yasou too much. I think Zoe and the new Akali are the problem

I hope you weren't prompted to make this post out of frustration with posts such as this one:

Because it was very polite and not even calling the champions OP or UP.

Zyra was a collaboration

Id argue most of his champions are well balanced, the only issues are the inability to be well suited for casual and pro play at the same time, which isnt specific to his champions.

Its honestly just an unfounded meme at this point to harp on him.

Above everything else, I'm just tired of the craze that happens every time CertainlyT is involved in something.

My personal views; the duder has good champion design in the way this post points out. I'll also agree that sometimes holding up to that theme so wholeheartedly to where these champions do tend to have a bit more to their kits than others can be seen as sloppy when it comes to game balancing. The one element though that people really like to forget when it comes to these champions with a lot to their kit means there are a lot of areas to mess with. Look how many nerfs Zoe has received, or changes in general, yet she still is a viable champion. With so many elements to a champions it does become easier to try to find them a healthier state in the game. (By Riot's definition still of course.) Honestly, it's part of what makes older champions a bit harder to balance; Renekton is a perfect example of an older champion who is either a bit underrated or completely takes over the toplane.

Maybe CertainlyT should be in charge of the next Ryze rework. At the very least, it'll be fresh.
