We Need Stronger Penalties For Ranked AFKs

You know how toxic a ranked AFK is? One that 'causes you to drop a division has effectively cost you 4-10 hours of your life, just to get back to where you were.

Here's a solution: AFKing/leaving a ranked game should cause the player from being banned from joining ranked games for a few days on the first offense, a week for the second, a month for the third.

Leaverbuster can already automatically detect AFKs, those players names are read in the post-game lobby. It's a no-brainer to apply this penalty to those individuals.

When leaverbuster doesn't detect the AFK, but 4 teammates and/or opponents report the leave/afk, those reports, for ranked games, should be prioritized for review, and the penalty should be delivered as promptly as possible.

EDIT * I'm only suggesting this harsher penalty apply to joining ranked queue. These players can still join normal queue.

They already made it harsher this season, and AFKing out of ranked matches can (I'm pretty sure) get you a Ranked play restriction.

Half the threads in help+support are "OMG MY TOASTER CRASHED AND NOW IM BANNED WTF RITO???!?". (I paraphrase slightly, but a lot of people are getting hit by LeaverBuster.)

There needs to be the Moe Penalty. If a person AFKs repeatedly, a large man named Moe will be dispatched to their house. Once there, he will beat that person senseless. Players who reported the AFK player will receive a global message proclaiming that Moe has been dispatched and that Justice will be served.

While hesitant at first, I tend to agree with the temporary "ranked only" ban, even after one afk. You can still play normals. But you really shouldn't be "testing your connection" in a ranked game.

They could always let people go back to drop hacking and prevent losses when this happens ;)

I would love this. Have been plat I twice this season (just got demoted again). 60% of my games in plat I have been 4v5s. This shit needs to stop.

Just let people leave when someone afks... No need for THAT harsh of a punishment. What if i need to go to the hospital because someone in my family got injured? What happens if i need to go do something that's an emergency? I wouldn't like to be banned from ranked for a week+ just because life happened.

here were my stats from last season. i played in close to 500 games and won round about 235 of those games. i lost 80 games based on afks or leavers. the % is round about 16. that to me is way to high, with 20 losses coming in series games that i lost to get out of bronze 5. im all for banning someone for 24 hours from ranked on a 1st offense. they can go play normals or draft. leave buster dosent have teeth if i had an afk in 16% of my ranked games last season. im not playing ranked until next season. when and only if afks in ranked games are given severe punishment with no resets on there afk tracker. it stays there permanently. if you are having connection issues dont play ranked. if u you are playing this game and there are 5 other devices eating bandwith what do you do? easy answer dont play ranked. if you afk due to windows update you are stupid and should be ban for from ranked for 24 hours. i dare anyone to tell me that an afk in 16% of my games last season is close to acceptable. please keep in mind im not swearing or screaming but simply giving an opinion. do not flame me putting real stats in here that i tracked myself. including how many games i lost lane early in and pretty much helped my team lose the game. they should do loss prevented for the losing team when a person afks. if its in a series game it dosent count in a bad way. riot should give a muligan in essence. take the combined would be lost LP from the person who went afk. please do allow people to go negative LP from this punishment. if these measures are too extreme then they need to come up with ones that are less severe that might actually work. still love this game and will not post middle fingers and say "screw this game im going to play heroes of the swarm". they try hard to improve the game and keep it going. my %'s may be off by 1-2 points as i wasnt tracking everything til about game 10-15.

But what if people actually just have their internet wonk out and it won't work? What if this happens to them every 100 hundred games? Those players don't deserve to be punished because of the fact that their internet went down in one game

I would be fine with this if getting the "attempting to reconnect" didn't count as leaving. You get flag for leaving if that happens do you whether or not it has an impact. Also their should be harsher penalties for ass holes. If you fix people being ass holes there would be a lot less leaves.
