Suggestion: Require 20 normal draft-queue games before allowing ranked play

I just played a game where a player offered to trade for blitz, and instead of asking what the other player wanted, picked a champion that a third player was planning to play. Also, he never bothered trading.

I never know what the deal is in these situations. I usually assume trolling or some other terrible behavior, but maybe he was new and didn't know how champion swap worked, and didn't know the usual draft queue etiquette. Maybe it was his first ranked game.

That got me thinking, why not require that players, who want to play ranked, play a certain amount of normal draft-queue games first? It'd get them used to the champion banning/selection/swapping process before they touch ranked. PLUS, it'd weed out the yolo-casuals that decide to jump into ranked games here and there, without any real desire to cooperate with the rest of the team.

People that really care to play competitively wouldn't mind having to reach that minimum before starting ranked. Those that can't be bothered with that shouldn't be playing ranked anyway.

Since I'm level 21 and will soon be one of those irritating noobs in ranked who has no idea what's going on, I actually think this is a really good idea. As a community service, I will undergo a self-imposed ban on playing ranked until i've completed the compulsory 20-25 normal draft-queue games. Honestly, I didn't even realize you could play draft-queue games outside of ranked. Cheers mate :-D

Yes! This is good to give the people an intro into the ranked mode if they have never played it before.

This sounds like a sensible thing to me.

Completely agree with this idea, just as you play up to level 30 to learn the game before you can enter ranked queue. There's no reason that you shouldn't be required to play at LEAST 10 games of draft-queue to teach them how it works.

It's like a drivers license, you have to drive x amount of time before you can get your license, but you also must have x amount of that to be during the night. Seems like a good requirement to add.

Completely agree, implementing this would be an awesome idea for making ranked a better experience for all.

I remember the first time I played draft mode, thankfully it wasn't ranked. I was first pick and I had no idea how to ban so I ended up banning the champion I wanted to play and then I had no idea what to play because no one else had stated what they wanted to play (I'm a fill kinda guy)

So if not a minimum of games, make a tutorial for draft that unlocks at level 25 thats does like a co-op vs AI int bots, just so they get a sense of who picks and bans work. Bonus points for a pop up tip that says "Pick order > call order."

Between 10 and 20 sounds fair, but I think more than 30 would be unreasonable. Perhaps it could even adjust by amount of wins vs losses. Meaning if you win more than 50% you can "pass" in fewer games. Get a bunch of losses and you'll have to play up to the maximum.
