Title. I've tried every counter pick and nothing works. It doesn't feel like anyone beats him in lane anymore and if your jungler just lets him push and never ganks, playing defensively doesn't work either.
What champions are good against him mid? I'm seriously tired of losing to him but I don't want to go the easy way out of banning him.
the counter to yasuo is for yasuo to counter himself, yasuo has all the tools he needs to not lose a lane, it is up to yasuo to screw up, can't outplay him

Sadly that's how the game has turned to since GC brought Runes Reforged in. "Counters" aren't counters anymore because of the insane amounts of damage in the game while defense was stripped.
I have a hard time against Yas too so I'm not much help. I used to be able to shit on him with Annie but even her I can't do anymore. Tsk.

Fiddle can beat him.
Wind wall will not stop the fear or drain.
Throw the crow and drain. He will wind wall then die. And he will think you are cheating.
Build

Never hard engage useless you know you will kill him. Melee him to pop the shield, wait for it to fall, then crow him while farming for damage. When he dash toward you to attack just fear and walk back.
Your surprise damage is while draining, the crows will bounce to that target. Since the crows will be behind the wall and drain is a tether he will take a lot. Don't be afraid to end the drain early to get back due to fear ending. You will have the run speed to help get you out.
Now you just need to pray you don't get a limp jungle while theirs chain ganks you. (the ganks will come because you are a mage without dashes and Yasuo will be complaining like crazy.
Why aren't you banning him?
Since the crit revert, Yasuo has become quite disgusting, mainly because players can rush 
again. After those items, he might as well be a 13-0 late game Yasuo because he is just going to run over everything in sight. I can't really think of any champion that can control him in the early game. I thought Fiora could out duel him early game at one time, but then I climbed to high Silver and realized I was just playing vs shit Yasuos. Just ban him.
I know malz has a lot of fun going into him. Whenever he tries to dive, just ult him under your tower

- you need to take electro or predator. Q refunds your mana on minions. Use Annies long ass auto range to keep that shield poked. Her other abilities cannot be windwalled
Take mouse and click on yas at 6
skill match up BUT past lvl 2 Yas can't take long fights with the fish if he eats full combo. Ulting Yas is almost guaranteed to kill him
One of my favorite league match ups. you can poke his shield and play safe til 6. The key to taking yas out as zed is to bait windwall then ult (ww stops shurikens from clones)
She's pretty good at nuking Yas.

Break his shield before doing shit, try to bait his W, respect his E range, and keep an eye on his Q. The best time to trade against him is after he fires Q3, you've recently broken shield, and while his W is down.
i mean usually the counter for me was to ban him... if hes banned he cant be played meaning he cant be OP because he will never set foot in my games
Just ban him. He has a 90% pick/ban for a reason. Right now there is no point in trying to deal with him.

Dear lord in heaven....if the child hasn't figured out a champ ruins his games yet can remove said champ why am I suprised players like him run down their lanes and feed every game :S
Ban or dodge. Why are you letting the enemy play a champ that broken?
General laning principles, wave manageent, knowledge of power spikes (Not just items but experiance and ability cooldowns) and good clicks (not just input buffering and orbwalking) helps to beat yasuo and how to resist when things are good for the yasuo. He is also famously weak to dives (Not just tower dives but big people with CC jumping on him)
In normals, it's common to see him almost every game. Always pick a champion with hard cc, killing power, and durability (either through itemization or innate skills). You won't straight up counter him this way, but at least you'll stand a better chance.
Play safe mage with decent CC and wave clear that also has solid damage options with as little skillshots as possible, or a fighter that's good at handling yasuo. Or maybe some very heavy burst, something that just wrecks him without giving a chance to defend.
So I'd guess malzahar, or maybe Yi or Ap malphite?
Other than that, your only real job is to make sure yasuo won't get fed on you, so you play it safe to the point of merging with turret. Do that and maybe your team will manage yasuo in teamfights.
Personally I really like playing into yas. Yes has better poke with his q but if you watch for that the all in by fizz is better for most of the game from level 3 onwards. Things to watch for are trying to save E for preventing his knock up and not just throwing out long range ults. Try to look for a short all in before backing out then on the next trade use fizz ult point blank. The small ult is enough to kill as long as you have some damage on him before hand.

randuins + tabi or ban and wait til 9.4 like every1 else
Top lane Riven is a good counterpick, you basically walk over him. I also tend to use Mordekaiser.
Master Yi or Fiora his face off. I keep seeing people playing ranged against him.
He is overtuned with the crit item changes. Still is a counter, and most top laners that can flex mid do well into him as well. He actually loses to a lot of bruisers.
You have to ban him. It is the only way to guarantee you don't deal with it.
You ban him , just like I have about a 30% WR vs thresh . I started banning him , problem solved
