If riot wanted a ranked system essentially based on normal queue they could've just made normal queue ELO's visible and added rewards based on normal queue.

Not changed ranked to normal queue, remove ranked 5's, and do some weird cluster fuck at super high elo.

Just sayin', if you wanted to play with your friends before there was always a mode for that. And new ranked = old normals now. Did no one stop to wonder why people played ranked over normals before just flopping normal queues into ranked?
